Daniel and the End Times
(Sermon Outline)
1) There is an infatuation right now with the End Times and the book of Daniel is one of the fan favorites.
a) I constantly hear that “the rapture is near.”
b) People look at what is happening in America and in the world and believe that the end of history is at hand.
c) Scripture tells us that nobody knows the time.
d) History tells us that believers throughout all ages have thought the same thing.
e) What we really want to explore is how eschatology affects the mission of the church of Jesus Christ.
f) The cognitive dissonance created by the hell in a handbasket mentality.
2) The book of Daniel
a) Nebuchadnezzar’s and Daniel’s vision – man and 4 beasts
b) Daniel 2:44–45 (NKJV) — 44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. 45 Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold—the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure.”
c) Daniel 7:13–14 (NKJV) — 13 “I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. 14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.
d) Much of Daniel is about the end of the kingdom of man and the inauguration of the kingdom of God. It often refers to the time that the sacrifices end – the New covenant.
3) The New Covenant and the Kingdom of God – Has Messiah begun His reign or are we still waiting?
a) Mark 1:14–15 (NKJV) — 14 Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
b) Luke 11:1–4 (NKJV) — 1 Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” 2 So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 3 Give us day by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.”
i) Followed by story of the persistent friend at midnight.
ii) Then Ask, Seek, Knock
4) The Temple and the Kingdom of God
a) הֵיכָל hekal (228a); a prim. root; a palace, temple:[1]
b) Ephesians 4:7, 11–13, 15-16 (NKJV) — 7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift…11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
5) 2 New Years in Judaism
a) Passover (Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits), Pentecost, Tabernacles (Trumpets, Atonement, Tabernacles)
b) Rosh Hashana – The Feast of Trumpets calls the people of Israel to prepare for the Messiah’s return at the End of Days.
c) The old covenant was the shadow, the substance has come in Jesus Christ!
d) The rending of the veil and the New Covenant
6) What we should be focused on at LSCC
a) Isaiah 58:6–9 (NKJV) — 6 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. 9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness.

Speaker#1:
00:00:00.0 – 00:00:09.63
That makes sense And as Christians we really have to have a grace and a mercy for one another that it is OK to see things differently
Speaker#1:
00:00:10.75 – 00:00:15.579
You know if you don’t see it the way I see it then you don’t know as much as I know That’s ridiculous
Speaker#1:
00:00:16.17 – 00:00:19.1
It’s OK to see things differently
Speaker#1:
00:00:20.01 – 00:00:27.67
But as Christians we also have to be able to talk about things and not avoid them just because people see things differently
Speaker#1:
00:00:28.19 – 00:00:36.549
Does that make sense We should be able to have a good conversation and generally speaking when you’re really secure in the Lord
Speaker#1:
00:00:38.2 – 00:00:48.65
you don’t feel like oh I gotta break fellowship with you because you see this a little differently But when we feel that deep unsettled feeling
Speaker#1:
00:00:49.63 – 00:00:57.52
that that is offensive it’s really an opportunity sometimes for us to say ok Lord show me why I’m having that experience
Speaker#1:
00:00:58.34 – 00:01:01.369
right Show me is this from you
Speaker#1:
00:01:01.889 – 00:01:03.229
or is this
Speaker#1:
00:01:03.889 – 00:01:07.9
not of you Am I being challenged in a way
Speaker#1:
00:01:08.44 – 00:01:22.83
that I’m uncomfortable being challenged And so with with one of the things I think is interesting and like sometimes when I talk about Calvinism and Armenian and I know that I am not doing either justice in a simplistic explanation right
Speaker#1:
00:01:23.709 – 00:01:31.709
But I would look at Armenians and they would say listen we need to make sure that people know that their choices are valid
Speaker#1:
00:01:32.569 – 00:01:46.79
that God has given us free will That human beings are not just the product of fate or materialism or determinism that our choices really matter and our choices carry responsibility
Speaker#1:
00:01:48.73 – 00:01:50.72
That’s a very important truth
Speaker#1:
00:01:52.879 – 00:02:16.309
On the other side I would say that Calvinist often would take a position of we need to hold that God is sovereign that his choices actually matter that He has the ability to act and act in earth in our lives that He didn’t just wind up the world like a clock and let it run to its own devices that God can say I will do this and he will do that
Speaker#1:
00:02:16.63 – 00:02:24.63
that God can hear and say I heard them say that their God is a God of the hills and not the plain So I’m gonna get them a second time because I heard what they said
Speaker#1:
00:02:26.3 – 00:02:29.05
that he can actually respond to
Speaker#1:
00:02:30.07 – 00:02:33.429
the prayers of people and that He can answer prayer
Speaker#1:
00:02:33.97 – 00:02:44.389
You see what I mean But what happens in the church a lot of times and it really is the difference between living Christianity and dead Christianity
Speaker#1:
00:02:45.44 – 00:02:58.77
mature secure Christianity and insecure Christianity mature Christianity says it’s OK that you’re uh a Calvinist and it’s OK that you’re an Armenian and it’s OK to have a whole spectrum in between
Speaker#1:
00:03:00.119 – 00:03:05.69
because we know that we know Jesus and we love the Lord and we’re growing together and we’re walking together and serving together
Speaker#1:
00:03:06.58 – 00:03:27.089
But insecure Christianity is like we are right and we believe these things and they’re wrong because they don’t believe these things and that’s as dead as dead can be Does that make sense And so within this context there are things that we can actually talk about and have a discussion about even though
Speaker#1:
00:03:27.779 – 00:03:41.339
we can have a different eschatology Does that make sense Because there are genuine concerns that do need to be addressed And because pre millennialism is such a a popular eschatology
Speaker#1:
00:03:42.02 – 00:03:54.24
that I have to confront regularly we’re gonna talk about some of them I literally get texts I’ve I’ve actually had texts that last year the rapture is gonna happen before October and I text her back Yeah not gonna happen
Speaker#1:
00:03:56.449 – 00:03:58.399
is why don’t you think it’s gonna happen
Speaker#1:
00:03:59.46 – 00:04:22.619
I just was being yeah I couldn’t help myself right I was being funny you know I mean I mean you know but but it’s I get these from different people all the time The rapture is coming the rapture is coming And I actually saw people in my life that I had to work with who when things went really wrong in culture
Speaker#1:
00:04:23.23 – 00:04:25.35
I saw them wrestle with
Speaker#1:
00:04:27.209 – 00:04:31.619
well this has to happen The world has to go to hell in a hand basket for Jesus to return
Speaker#1:
00:04:32.67 – 00:04:33.94
Does that make sense
Speaker#1:
00:04:34.7 – 00:05:02.119
I’ve literally dealt with people who think that way This is not something that is just well just informational It’s because this is something that people are really wrestling with I’m not saying that everybody who’s pre millennial has the same opinions or falls into the same traps But I’m telling you there’s a one of the writers that I thought was really ingenious He coined the term silen
Speaker#1:
00:05:02.75 – 00:05:11.369
And I really like that term Pesci millennialism is the idea that everything is going to turn out bad for Christ to return
Speaker#1:
00:05:12.239 – 00:05:17.04
And then underneath it it says we preach defeat and we got it
Speaker#1:
00:05:18.549 – 00:05:24.51
You see the thinking here be it done to you according to your faith
Speaker#1:
00:05:25.359 – 00:05:41.859
And and and so some of this stuff is really challenging and the and the reason I’m hearing about the rapture a lot in America is because people are looking at what’s happening in America and even around the world and they’re thinking oh my gosh it’s dying it’s falling apart It’s really really bad
Speaker#1:
00:05:43.299 – 00:05:44.97
The rapture has got to be here
Speaker#1:
00:05:48.029 – 00:06:16.589
But we all know that scripture tells us that nobody knows the time or the seasons of Christ of Christ’s return Let’s not even get into the weeds of how we think it’s gonna happen What we believe about these specific details Nobody knows the time scripture tells us that But history tells another interesting story and history tells us that people in the church have often throughout all ages believed that they were in the very last day
Speaker#1:
00:06:17.26 – 00:06:24.73
They often believe that he’s definitely coming back in our generation if not our generation definitely in our children’s time
Speaker#1:
00:06:25.589 – 00:06:31.75
Heck they even had to deal with that in the early church This is absolutely nothing new
Speaker#1:
00:06:33.019 – 00:06:59.779
And the reason is very interesting to me why it happens because as we are Christians and we start walking with God and we start loving the Lord and we start loving righteousness and holiness and his presence And we love things being the way God designed them because it’s life giving And we see how broken the world is and how far it is from the way God intended it We start to really feel that man it is really bad and going in the wrong direction
Speaker#1:
00:07:02.76 – 00:07:04.109
makes sense doesn’t it
Speaker#1:
00:07:05.329 – 00:07:23.45
But if anybody remembers living in the darkness you were clueless to those things It’s actually walking with God that makes you aware of how bad things really are for the most part unless things are getting really bad where even the unbeliever says wow it’s really bad It’s like hell on earth
Speaker#1:
00:07:24.619 – 00:07:32.47
and we’re starting to get to that point But when you study history we realize that there have been far worse times that we’re facing right now
Speaker#1:
00:07:33.14 – 00:07:50.76
The world has faced far darker days and cultures have faced far darker things than we are facing And by saying that what we’re facing is real is not real No it is very real It’s very significant it’s very dangerous They are very important warning signs that we’re seeing as a culture
Speaker#1:
00:07:51.54 – 00:07:52.239
right
Speaker#1:
00:07:52.929 – 00:08:05.14
But when we have an eschatology of defeat and no expectation that the gospel is able to meet the needs of a of time of our current generation
Speaker#1:
00:08:06.38 – 00:08:09.149
then we almost participate in
Speaker#1:
00:08:10.0 – 00:08:11.51
the degeneration
Speaker#1:
00:08:12.25 – 00:08:13.6
Does that make sense
Speaker#1:
00:08:14.26 – 00:08:31.799
When we believe that there is no power to transform things Then we don’t operate in faith We don’t preach boldly We don’t speak boldly We don’t live boldly We often lose hope and encouragement and lose that reproductive element of our Christianity
Speaker#1:
00:08:32.4 – 00:08:43.119
It’s really interesting Isn’t that when you think about it And I would even say that we need to explore eschatology because it directly affects what we think the mission of the church is
Speaker#1:
00:08:43.94 – 00:09:00.0
it directly affects what we think the mission of the church is If we think that this is how to paint reality the end is coming definitely in our life or the next our kids’ life because that can that can be throughout all ages
Speaker#1:
00:09:00.21 – 00:09:22.409
right And the whole and everything is gonna get really really bad It’s gonna become like hell on earth And whether you believe if you are pre millennial I’m saying there are other valid esca in even beyond I every once in a while I come upon a new one Like when I was studying the puritans I’m like we see three post millennialism on MLL and pre millennialism And if you’re pre millennials you might be
Speaker#1:
00:09:22.549 – 00:09:31.559
uh pre tribulation rapture mid tribulation rapture post tribulation rapture And it just gets all more and more information right Um
Speaker#1:
00:09:32.409 – 00:09:43.109
But if you think that everything has to fall apart and get really bad for Christ to return then you start to see the whole mission of the church is to get people to heaven
Speaker#1:
00:09:44.559 – 00:09:45.909
Does that make sense
Speaker#1:
00:09:46.419 – 00:10:09.059
I’m not saying all pre millennial this fall into this but I experience it a lot It’s not uncommon I experience a lot The whole goal is to get people to heaven The goal is to get them to be baptized to make a profession of faith and pretty much try to live a decent good Christian life taking God seriously of getting other people to get to heaven
Speaker#1:
00:10:09.71 – 00:10:27.71
Does that make sense But if you actually believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ is something other than that that can actually transform the world transform individuals families communities nations If you actually believe that there’s power to
Speaker#1:
00:10:29.58 – 00:10:33.099
bless every nation on earth through Jesus Christ
Speaker#1:
00:10:33.77 – 00:10:53.859
you start to think differently Does that make sense So I actually laugh about early American um post millennialism because some of their versions of it were just dead wrong They literally thought by the um one particular war that they were ushering in the millennium
Speaker#1:
00:10:54.52 – 00:10:56.4
they were just dead wrong about that
Speaker#1:
00:10:57.099 – 00:10:57.9
but
Speaker#1:
00:10:59.57 – 00:11:22.09
post millennialism was the predominant eschatology during the time of the founding fathers and it crossed all kinds of denominational lines It was uh a post millennialism that actually expected that things could get better through the gospel And ironically they lived act and preached
Speaker#1:
00:11:22.679 – 00:11:26.52
and made a difference because they believed things could get better
Speaker#1:
00:11:27.14 – 00:11:31.0
Just an interesting thought they were wrong but made the world better
Speaker#1:
00:11:33.469 – 00:12:00.659
I can’t justify being wrong I you But God is a funny God He works through these jars of clay if we had to be perfect before he used us If we had to have everything right before he used us this world would be in serious trouble Every human being would be in serious trouble And the reason I’m saying this is it’s the principle of hope The principle that things can change
Speaker#1:
00:12:01.969 – 00:12:09.71
through the gospel of Jesus Christ is an idea that has made the church fruitful throughout the ages
Speaker#1:
00:12:10.38 – 00:12:24.07
I I picked a really bad example I’m not gonna go in because I’ve gotten so far off my notes already Um that uh we’re not gonna go on a journey because there’s been much pure hope in the church
Speaker#1:
00:12:24.64 – 00:12:27.549
than the one I was kind of referencing in early America
Speaker#1:
00:12:29.169 – 00:12:41.059
But it just seemed in and part of this too is because I’ve been discovering that if you pick a title like Daniel in the end times it turns out that people search for things on the internet like Daniel in times and they
Speaker#1:
00:12:41.659 – 00:12:46.69
stumble upon this So I thought well let’s pick things that people are looking for Right
Speaker#1:
00:12:47.619 – 00:12:52.349
And so to talk about the book of Daniel and the end times
Speaker#1:
00:12:54.719 – 00:13:01.51
we’re going to take a different approach to it But before I take a different approach and we’re really only going to touch on it and then move on
Speaker#1:
00:13:04.28 – 00:13:18.469
There’s a dream that Ne Kneer has at the beginning of the book of Daniel we all know this It’s actually a really fun story It’s actually exciting to me the faith and the boldness and the hope that’s in the whole narrative
Speaker#1:
00:13:19.52 – 00:13:27.89
Kneer has a dream This dream really troubled me really bad I need to know the interpretation of this dream
Speaker#1:
00:13:28.69 – 00:13:38.34
and all the so Sayers and wise men are like oh ok well tell us the dream and we’ll give you the interpretation He’s like no no no no no no I don’t trust y’all
Speaker#1:
00:13:39.099 – 00:13:41.229
I’ve come up with a better idea
Speaker#1:
00:13:42.44 – 00:13:46.09
and if you if nobody interprets a dream you’re all dead
Speaker#1:
00:13:47.38 – 00:13:49.32
Oh now it just got serious
Speaker#1:
00:13:50.75 – 00:13:53.349
You need to tell me what my dream was
Speaker#1:
00:13:56.45 – 00:14:04.979
and then give me the interpretation because then I’ll know your interpretation is true But if you can’t tell me what my dream was then I know you’re false
Speaker#1:
00:14:06.049 – 00:14:19.84
Well they’re like it’s a death sentence across the whole land of Babylon at this point right And Daniel falls into the category with his three friends of those that are gonna be off with their head
Speaker#1:
00:14:20.95 – 00:14:23.539
But Daniel starts praying and fasting
Speaker#1:
00:14:24.27 – 00:14:45.82
and God reveals to him the very dream that had How awesome is our God What kind of possibilities How can he I mean if you pause that was an impossible situation That was a death sentence If you did not if you do not have faith in that moment
Speaker#1:
00:14:46.419 – 00:14:47.44
you’re dead
Speaker#1:
00:14:48.58 – 00:14:55.119
If you don’t believe that God exists and He rewards those that diligently seek Him you’re dead
Speaker#1:
00:14:55.64 – 00:15:01.44
If you don’t believe that God can interpret Nebi Knez His dream to you you’re dead
Speaker#1:
00:15:02.34 – 00:15:13.979
You see how important faith and expectation is It’s kind of the point of what I’m getting at If you don’t believe there’s any hope in Jesus Christ
Speaker#1:
00:15:14.539 – 00:15:15.57
we’re dead
Speaker#1:
00:15:17.309 – 00:15:34.239
right And God interprets the dream and the dream is a really interesting dream It’s about the four kingdoms that will come Well Babylon the uh the meats and Persians the Greeks and the Romans Isn’t that interesting
Speaker#1:
00:15:35.539 – 00:15:54.02
It’s really interesting that God speaks about these four kingdoms And then later in the book of Daniel Daniel sees these four beasts and the fourth beast is the most terrifying just like the Roman Empire and and the Bible and it actually tells you in Daniel what they’re referring to
Speaker#1:
00:15:55.169 – 00:16:03.44
The thing That’s the plain sense of scripture is the Babylonians the Medes and Persians the Greeks and the Romans It’s there
Speaker#1:
00:16:05.33 – 00:16:09.03
You don’t have to guess at it It says it plainly
Speaker#1:
00:16:09.559 – 00:16:22.64
in the last beast the Roman Empire is much scarier and more terrifying than all the three that came before it And we history proves it was all accurate right
Speaker#1:
00:16:23.25 – 00:16:38.59
And I think this is so interesting which there’s so many things that are interesting in here that would be worth going into like how the one gets its wings plucked off and becomes a man What happened to and how he had a revelation through the ministry of Daniel
Speaker#1:
00:16:38.729 – 00:16:55.13
and me and Bendigo and the testimony I mean there’s some deep impo powerful things in there of the impact of God’s people but we’re not gonna go into that But what is interesting to me is that ne sees it as a glorious man
Speaker#1:
00:16:55.96 – 00:17:01.77
and it’s those four kingdoms and Daniel sees them as these four beasts and it’s the same kingdoms
Speaker#1:
00:17:02.919 – 00:17:09.838
and who was world extremely worldly at the time it looks like something glorious
Speaker#1:
00:17:10.81 – 00:17:21.609
but to a man of God they look like four beasts and beasts and scripture are always totalitarian Governments always Isn’t that interesting
Speaker#1:
00:17:24.078 – 00:17:25.18
And now
Speaker#1:
00:17:26.02 – 00:17:30.03
the end of the vision of the glorious man
Speaker#1:
00:17:31.04 – 00:17:51.699
right We said we had we have to touch on Daniel in the end times right You know the very end I think is the most important part right Then getting into all the micro details So Daniel 2 44 through 45 in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed
Speaker#1:
00:17:52.849 – 00:18:02.099
and the kingdom shall not be left to other people It shall break in pieces and consume these kingdoms and it shall stand forever
Speaker#1:
00:18:03.25 – 00:18:11.01
Listen it’s saying here in the time of these kingdoms and it defined them that last kingdom is the Roman Empire
Speaker#1:
00:18:12.979 – 00:18:20.189
What’s going to happen The God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed
Speaker#1:
00:18:23.79 – 00:18:29.81
I don’t know what else I can say about it It’s right there staring us in the face It’s challenging isn’t it
Speaker#1:
00:18:31.329 – 00:18:52.119
It shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms and it shall stand forever And as much as you saw the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it broke in pieces the iron the bronze the clay and the silver and the gold the great God is made known to the king What shall come to pass after this
Speaker#1:
00:18:52.78 – 00:18:56.26
The dream is certain and its interpretation is true
Speaker#1:
00:18:57.819 – 00:19:07.219
I’m not saying there see there’s a lot in scripture that is hard to wrestle with There’s places where especially when it talks about eschatology it gets confusing
Speaker#1:
00:19:08.01 – 00:19:23.43
and we can read things and we can follow the trails down one road and it leads to one conclusion I’m I’ve been focusing on a lot of other things because the Lord did mandate me that the people of God have been losing hope speak hope to the people again
Speaker#1:
00:19:24.04 – 00:19:24.979
right
Speaker#1:
00:19:26.16 – 00:19:46.53
And we can focus on scriptures that talk will many be saved will few be saved And there’s scriptures on that that seem to imply both a great multitude that no man can number And then you know you know narrow is the way that leads to life and few there are that find it You see what I mean There are passages that really challenge us
Speaker#1:
00:19:47.089 – 00:19:51.17
and leave us in a place where we’ve got to make some tough decisions
Speaker#1:
00:19:52.589 – 00:19:56.979
And so I’m challenging that the principle of hope and expectation
Speaker#1:
00:19:59.079 – 00:20:01.819
that Jesus has the power to change everything
Speaker#1:
00:20:02.609 – 00:20:06.729
and I’d rather live be And I believe it with my whole heart actually
Speaker#1:
00:20:07.939 – 00:20:17.939
you know I bought in that there is power in the gospel You could say well will you know will we find it Well you know what It really is only accessible by faith
Speaker#1:
00:20:18.89 – 00:20:21.25
It’s only accessible by faith
Speaker#1:
00:20:23.14 – 00:20:24.079
Bottom line
Speaker#1:
00:20:24.66 – 00:20:44.969
So the end of the beast prophecies what is the end of the beast prophecies Right That’s kind of fun Well I read it Daniel 7 13 to 14 I was watching in the night visions and behold one like the son of man coming with the clouds of heaven
Speaker#1:
00:20:45.56 – 00:20:50.03
He came to the ancient of days and they brought him near before him
Speaker#1:
00:20:50.63 – 00:20:54.849
Then to him was given Dominion and glory in a kingdom
Speaker#1:
00:20:57.239 – 00:21:10.819
that all the peoples and nations and languages should serve him His Dominion is an everlasting Dominion which shall not pass away in his kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed
Speaker#1:
00:21:11.54 – 00:21:19.16
It was actually saying while these beasts are in operation this will happen to end the reign of the beasts
Speaker#1:
00:21:20.079 – 00:21:22.8
And it already defined that as the Roman Empire
Speaker#1:
00:21:24.859 – 00:21:28.739
work that stuff out in your head It’s challenging isn’t it
Speaker#1:
00:21:29.54 – 00:21:57.619
And we and other weeks we’ve looked it Jesus through the resurrection And ascension sat down on the throne of David and began his reign That the day of Pentecost was the manifestation of the coronation of King Jesus It was the administration of his rule and reign on earth We asked the question has Messiah already sat down on the throne of David or is it a future reality
Speaker#1:
00:21:59.449 – 00:22:11.479
But if Messiah has already sat down on his throne and begun his reign then these are passages that are talking about what to expect with his reign on earth
Speaker#1:
00:22:12.9 – 00:22:14.81
It’s challenging stuff Isn’t it
Speaker#1:
00:22:15.699 – 00:22:17.25
challenging stuff
Speaker#1:
00:22:21.42 – 00:22:28.339
I would say much of Daniel is about the end of the Kingdom of Man and the inauguration of the Kingdom of God
Speaker#1:
00:22:29.099 – 00:22:36.849
That’s what we just read And then what makes it challenging challenging is it also talks about the end of the sacrifices
Speaker#1:
00:22:39.63 – 00:22:41.38
And we know that that happened
Speaker#1:
00:22:42.069 – 00:22:46.0
during the time of the Roman Empire I mean these things are there
Speaker#1:
00:22:46.77 – 00:23:01.359
study them I’m not trying to say it’s OK for us to have different Escoto it’s OK for us to believe differently It’s actually ok Even if we live and die and have no hope that there’s any hope for the future
Speaker#1:
00:23:03.739 – 00:23:07.449
All that matters is whether our name is in the Lamb’s book of Life
Speaker#1:
00:23:08.56 – 00:23:29.53
That’s the only thing that matters that we have been born again of imperishable seed But I’m telling you the more we believe and expect that God is able to break every yoke and set the prisoner free the more we believe that there is no prayer that God cannot answer that there is nothing he cannot do
Speaker#1:
00:23:30.14 – 00:23:31.959
The more we start to experience it
Speaker#1:
00:23:33.479 – 00:23:59.609
the more we start to experience it whether it’s at personal levels or whether it’s at national levels the heroes of faith What did they do Yeah they were and two they were persecuted You know they they they they were sour in this world looking for a better resurrection But they also widows received their dead back to life They subdued armies of aliens They worked righteousness
Speaker#1:
00:24:00.849 – 00:24:12.78
There’s something about faith and expectation that can cause an encounter of God that can change individual lives families communities and even nations
Speaker#1:
00:24:13.63 – 00:24:16.359
But only if we dare to believe
Speaker#1:
00:24:17.65 – 00:24:25.92
that God is a God whose eyes are not blind whose ear is not deaf whose arm is powerful to save
Speaker#1:
00:24:27.239 – 00:24:41.3
That’s a kind of faith that glorifies the God that is revealed in scripture isn’t it It’s a kind of faith that cause an encounter with Jesus Christ It’s a kind of faith that we need to nurture in our community
Speaker#1:
00:24:45.78 – 00:24:53.3
Really what we saw what we’ve been challenging and what a bunch of these messages have been about is about the new covenant
Speaker#1:
00:24:54.54 – 00:24:58.579
It’s a passing away of the old world and the inauguration of the new
Speaker#1:
00:24:59.199 – 00:25:04.109
And that’s what we just read in the book of Daniel You see how it connects to the series of messages we’ve been on
Speaker#1:
00:25:04.839 – 00:25:15.079
and really one of the connections that we touched on but haven’t really explored is the connection between the new covenant and the Kingdom of God
Speaker#1:
00:25:17.579 – 00:25:20.229
because they are directly connected
Speaker#1:
00:25:21.369 – 00:25:28.18
It’s all about the Kingdom of God What was lost in the fall is restored in Jesus Christ
Speaker#1:
00:25:29.359 – 00:25:36.51
total reconciliation total redemption heaven and earth have passed away
Speaker#1:
00:25:37.229 – 00:25:41.329
If the blood of Jesus has cleansed all things behold you are a new creation
Speaker#1:
00:25:42.119 – 00:25:45.39
The things that the Bible says is so wild
Speaker#1:
00:25:46.91 – 00:25:52.359
that to talk about it sometimes in the church even it’s like uh you gone crazy
Speaker#1:
00:25:53.3 – 00:25:54.849
you don’t know reality
Speaker#1:
00:25:56.64 – 00:25:58.709
but they’re the things that God’s word says
Speaker#1:
00:26:00.31 – 00:26:02.469
let God be true and every man a liar
Speaker#1:
00:26:05.16 – 00:26:16.819
mark 1 14 through 15 Now after John was put in prison Jesus came to Galilee preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God and saying that time is fulfilled
Speaker#1:
00:26:17.76 – 00:26:22.88
the Kingdom of God is at hand repent and believe the gospel
Speaker#1:
00:26:23.989 – 00:26:31.26
The very thing that we were just reading about in Daniel is now coming to pass Messiah has come
Speaker#1:
00:26:34.479 – 00:26:55.67
I mean we really need to grasp this It was passages like this that changed my whole life after Bible college because after bible college and and I agree with a lot of they’re saying they’re saying every time you preach you need to talk about the cross and you need to talk about God’s love And I agree all of scripture is about God’s love
Speaker#1:
00:26:56.9 – 00:27:00.319
and that the cross is central There’s no question about it
Speaker#1:
00:27:02.15 – 00:27:05.339
but all of scripture is preaching Jesus Christ
Speaker#1:
00:27:05.849 – 00:27:16.77
And so I I wrestled with this dichotomy or this no disconnect is a better way to say a disconnect between the things I read in scripture and the things I’ve seen in the church
Speaker#1:
00:27:18.05 – 00:27:27.119
And I started looking up at this word the Kingdom of God the Kingdom of God and started praying Lord what is the gospel of the Kingdom of God
Speaker#1:
00:27:27.819 – 00:27:30.88
I I know the gospel of the forgiveness of sins
Speaker#1:
00:27:32.04 – 00:27:39.949
But what is this Gospel of the Kingdom of God And as we’ve been studying in previous weeks the gospel of the forgiveness of sins is all covenant
Speaker#1:
00:27:40.89 – 00:27:49.25
because they have that in the old covenant your sins are forgiven The gospel of the Kingdom is something different It’s the new covenant
Speaker#1:
00:27:50.219 – 00:28:14.68
in the old covenant by the Yom Kippur by the atonement God could dwell with men He covered sins and the new but God did not rule truly rule in rain There was a a wall of separation even from the holy of Holies Declaring that God was still separated from men They he only could dwell in their midst through the atonement
Speaker#1:
00:28:15.839 – 00:28:28.439
And now a man shows up saying the Kingdom of God is at hand He came preaching the good news the gospel It’s good news What the Kingdom of God is at hands length
Speaker#1:
00:28:30.02 – 00:28:35.67
It would be a bold but accurate translation to say the Kingdom of God is here now
Speaker#1:
00:28:36.52 – 00:28:48.89
because that’s what it means It’s at hand I can touch it I can grab it It is here Now what has long been promised What has been long awaited What the prophets have looked to see
Speaker#1:
00:28:49.619 – 00:28:53.819
is here now in Jesus Christ Messiah has come
Speaker#1:
00:28:56.089 – 00:29:00.849
and it’s the good news of his kingdom We were separated from his kingdom
Speaker#1:
00:29:01.63 – 00:29:03.729
Wait remember what about the old covenant
Speaker#1:
00:29:04.819 – 00:29:17.3
Because the law was written on tablets of stones and wasn’t written on our hearts I will write my law on your heart and cause you to walk in my ways and then you’ll be my God or I will be your God and you will be my people
Speaker#1:
00:29:19.39 – 00:29:23.92
or or another word you they’ll know you’re Christians by your love
Speaker#1:
00:29:26.359 – 00:29:31.579
and there’s no greater love than this than a man shall lay down his life for his friends
Speaker#1:
00:29:32.569 – 00:29:34.199
See the beauty
Speaker#1:
00:29:35.76 – 00:29:41.77
what the law could not do because of the weakness of it of the flesh God has done by sending his own son
Speaker#1:
00:29:43.18 – 00:29:44.459
That the law
Speaker#1:
00:29:46.68 – 00:29:54.109
of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death This stuff is good stuff isn’t it
Speaker#1:
00:29:55.3 – 00:29:57.709
The good news of the gospel of the Kingdom
Speaker#1:
00:29:59.42 – 00:30:01.28
And so I would challenge
Speaker#1:
00:30:03.569 – 00:30:07.91
that as we’re trying to restore new covenant Christianity
Speaker#1:
00:30:09.55 – 00:30:20.64
that we really need to start to study and research and come to understand the good news of the Kingdom of God How does it operate How does it work What are the laws that govern
Speaker#1:
00:30:21.589 – 00:30:28.42
the new covenant which is primarily the laws that govern the operation of the Holy Spirit
Speaker#1:
00:30:29.349 – 00:30:51.959
Because that’s the power from on high Does that make sense The power of the Holy Spirit The church without the Holy Spirit has no power to turn the world upside down just like Judaism had no power to turn the world upside down But the gospel of Jesus Christ turns the whole world right side back up a better way to put it right
Speaker#1:
00:30:52.569 – 00:31:07.41
And uh but from a worldly perspective turns the whole world upside down The same power is available today the same fruitfulness the same impact is available today If we will dare to take God at his word
Speaker#1:
00:31:14.569 – 00:31:15.55
Jesus
Speaker#1:
00:31:17.42 – 00:31:23.079
manifested the Kingdom in ways that were so powerful when you read the gospels wasn’t it
Speaker#1:
00:31:24.969 – 00:31:28.099
You know when John the Baptist I mean ok
Speaker#1:
00:31:28.709 – 00:31:48.65
I get I get the problem Jesus turned water into wine That’s so offensive No no grape juice No sorry it was wine Well how do you know that Because why did you bring out the good wine last You’re supposed to bring that out after people have already had some the some wine So they can’t taste the difference
Speaker#1:
00:31:49.66 – 00:31:51.359
Well that meant they’re actually gonna drink it
Speaker#1:
00:31:52.239 – 00:31:55.39
Jesus couldn’t do that I thought he was holy
Speaker#1:
00:31:56.339 – 00:31:58.9
But they John the Baptist was
Speaker#1:
00:31:59.969 – 00:32:06.589
John the Baptist Right I mean he was austere He was you’re total what you would expect from a prophet
Speaker#1:
00:32:07.38 – 00:32:13.31
Jesus They accused him of being a wine bibber and a glutton and he talked with Samaritans and he hung out with sinners
Speaker#1:
00:32:15.54 – 00:32:17.849
Are we sure this is the one
Speaker#1:
00:32:18.469 – 00:32:20.219
So John the Baptist says
Speaker#1:
00:32:20.79 – 00:32:39.209
hey are you the one I mean John the Baptist had all of these encounters with God saw the Holy Spirit descend on Jesus made such a bold proclamation and then watched him live in his own little brief span of ministry and thought I don’t know if I didn’t duff it
Speaker#1:
00:32:40.25 – 00:32:51.619
because Jesus is breaking all the rules He breaking all of the rules and I’m not sure that this is really from God So he’s but he does the right thing
Speaker#1:
00:32:52.51 – 00:33:00.88
instead of gossiping and slandering and criticizing behind his back he actually sent somebody Are you the one who’s a come or should we look for another
Speaker#1:
00:33:02.069 – 00:33:10.5
And Jesus said the sick are healed the dead are raised The good news is preached to the poor blesses him He’s not offended at this
Speaker#1:
00:33:13.56 – 00:33:15.189
They saw
Speaker#1:
00:33:16.109 – 00:33:35.8
and you I mean the things that Jesus did the dead were raised lepers were cleansed the sick were healed Devils were cast out sometimes cast out into pigs and and that threw themselves off of cliffs They saw storms being silenced by the word of God They saw Jesus walking on water
Speaker#1:
00:33:38.099 – 00:33:44.709
wild wild wild stuff They think the disciples might have started to think
Speaker#1:
00:33:45.43 – 00:33:46.04
man
Speaker#1:
00:33:47.27 – 00:33:48.68
how do we do this
Speaker#1:
00:33:49.459 – 00:33:59.069
I think they did didn’t they I wanna do that I wanna be like my rabbi I wanna be like Jesus I wanna reproduce his I want to be his heir
Speaker#1:
00:33:59.719 – 00:34:03.51
like Alicia I want a double portion I want to inherit
Speaker#1:
00:34:04.31 – 00:34:06.75
the anointing that is on you
Speaker#1:
00:34:08.6 – 00:34:17.878
Amen right And that’s what God intended for his church to be heirs of the anointing on Jesus Christ
Speaker#1:
00:34:19.739 – 00:34:21.658
that we are his heirs
Speaker#1:
00:34:23.07 – 00:34:24.78
Let that sink in right
Speaker#1:
00:34:25.34 – 00:34:28.29
So the disciples wanna know how do we make this happen
Speaker#1:
00:34:29.33 – 00:34:33.638
And they start to notice that it’s connected to his prayer life
Speaker#1:
00:34:35.33 – 00:34:37.5
And so they said Lord teach us to pray
Speaker#1:
00:34:41.949 – 00:34:56.479
Now came to Luke 11 124 says this now came to pass as he was praying in a certain place When he sees that one of his disciples said to him Lord teach us to pray as John also taught his disciples
Speaker#1:
00:34:57.419 – 00:35:04.05
So we said to them when you pray say our father in heaven may your name be made great in all the earth
Speaker#1:
00:35:04.969 – 00:35:06.62
I actually I’m just gonna read
Speaker#1:
00:35:07.379 – 00:35:12.739
translate it from the Greek wall So what you see in my notes is not gonna be what comes out
Speaker#1:
00:35:14.86 – 00:35:21.25
May your name be made great in all the earth And prayer is meant to be our constant desire toward God
Speaker#1:
00:35:21.79 – 00:35:27.54
It must be our constant as our Lord Let your name be made great in all the earth right
Speaker#1:
00:35:28.169 – 00:35:30.28
Let your kingdom come
Speaker#1:
00:35:31.719 – 00:36:00.53
that your will be done on earth as it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our sins for we forgive any everyone who has sinned against us and do not let us fall into sin when we are tempted but deliver us from evil See how I change that a little bit I actually researched and I actually found it in the church fathers and accurate interpretation The literal Greek literally is let not temptation lead us
Speaker#1:
00:36:02.05 – 00:36:15.83
So let us not be led by temptation instead of lead us not into temptation It’s so a real accurate translation would be let us not fall into sin when we are tempted because we will be tempted right
Speaker#1:
00:36:16.85 – 00:36:33.79
What’s interesting is that that passage in Luke is followed by a story and the story is of a man who goes to his friend’s house midnight and says hey give me some of the I think it was a food he was asking for whatever he was asking for
Speaker#1:
00:36:34.57 – 00:36:44.209
bread Yeah So food Boo boo boo boo boo boo boo guys Like dude what do you think you’re doing Come around at such a crazy hour come back tomorrow
Speaker#1:
00:36:44.76 – 00:36:58.129
but you’re my friend I don’t care It’s stupid o’clock What are you doing Knocking on my door Boo boo boo boo boo boo boom God That’s so annoying Boo boo boo boo boo boom That’s so annoying Boo boo Fine What do you want Brad there He got it
Speaker#1:
00:37:00.199 – 00:37:12.55
So Jesus is teaching us that prayer is meant to be not just a ritual prayer said in a church service but it’s meant to be a continual persistent going after it
Speaker#1:
00:37:13.56 – 00:37:20.729
And then he follows it with ask and you shall receive seek and you will find a knock and the door will be opened
Speaker#1:
00:37:21.87 – 00:37:29.379
So Jesus is teaching us of the persistence of prayer that God will answer prayer But sometimes it’s a warfare
Speaker#1:
00:37:30.53 – 00:37:51.59
sometimes it’s a battle sometimes it’s a wrestling sometimes it’s a perseverance in prayer wrestling with the discrepancy of what is and what he has promised And one could ask you know theoretically or philosophically what prayer can God not answer
Speaker#1:
00:37:55.159 – 00:38:23.429
Is there any prayer too big for God We could get philosophical Yeah Technically I mean James does if you pray for something according to the flesh he’s not gonna give it to you Well thank you for that one God That’s a huge blessing right You know if you don’t believe you won’t get anything from God that’s a big blessing because it’s all about faith and birthing the character of Christ in us So the very process of persistent prayer changes us
Speaker#1:
00:38:24.02 – 00:38:24.83
right
Speaker#1:
00:38:26.1 – 00:38:39.58
But I wanna pause for a second because this passage this Lord’s prayer is so important to grasp and understand that God does not teach us to pray something he doesn’t intend to do
Speaker#1:
00:38:41.389 – 00:38:49.899
because he didn’t say a ask and you will not receive seek but you will not find knock on the door will not be opened unto you
Speaker#1:
00:38:51.06 – 00:39:01.969
And so you gotta pause and look Jesus what did you teach us to pray Your kingdom come Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Speaker#1:
00:39:02.979 – 00:39:08.62
How many believers actually believe that those things are a possibility
Speaker#1:
00:39:15.01 – 00:39:21.09
How many people believe that your kingdom come could actually happen
Speaker#1:
00:39:21.8 – 00:39:25.649
Or your your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Speaker#1:
00:39:27.689 – 00:39:42.76
But that’s what he taught us to pray Then taught us persistence and prayer and asking you receive seek and you’ll find knocking the door will be open God the Lord Jesus Christ taught us to pray this because this is what he intends to do
Speaker#1:
00:39:43.61 – 00:39:46.8
What is true in heaven shall be manifested on earth
Speaker#1:
00:39:50.6 – 00:39:54.59
His will being done in heaven shall be done on earth
Speaker#1:
00:39:55.27 – 00:39:59.6
Why would he teach us to pray this if he didn’t intend to do it
Speaker#1:
00:40:01.61 – 00:40:09.429
You see where I’m going Expectation and faith is critical to the life and mission of the church
Speaker#1:
00:40:13.06 – 00:40:14.409
Powerful Lord
Speaker#1:
00:40:17.54 – 00:40:28.51
I mean I I I was gonna call Daniel in in Ephesians in the end times but I just thought nobody looks for Ephesians in the end times They just don’t do it So I just called it Daniel in the end times
Speaker#1:
00:40:30.35 – 00:40:32.719
But I asked so you know it’s questions
Speaker#1:
00:40:33.27 – 00:40:38.78
who rules the kingdom I mean I know these are dumb questions So bear with me who rules a kingdom
Speaker#1:
00:40:40.629 – 00:40:41.59
A king
Speaker#1:
00:40:42.909 – 00:40:44.179
Where does he live
Speaker#1:
00:40:47.05 – 00:40:48.429
Where does the king live
Speaker#1:
00:40:49.59 – 00:40:50.25
where
Speaker#1:
00:40:51.649 – 00:40:55.199
he lives in his kingdom But where specifically does he live in his kingdom
Speaker#1:
00:40:56.179 – 00:40:58.639
A palace right
Speaker#1:
00:41:00.0 – 00:41:01.659
Where does he rule from
Speaker#1:
00:41:02.729 – 00:41:08.409
his throne And we’ve already studied in previous weeks that Jesus has sat down on the throne
Speaker#1:
00:41:09.33 – 00:41:11.02
And what does he rule by
Speaker#1:
00:41:12.639 – 00:41:15.639
authority Definitely what else His
Speaker#1:
00:41:16.209 – 00:41:19.3
word Definitely his word is
Speaker#1:
00:41:20.56 – 00:41:27.379
yes A king rules by law But in the world the king’s word is law
Speaker#1:
00:41:28.429 – 00:41:29.86
In the Bible
Speaker#1:
00:41:30.37 – 00:41:33.76
the law is the character and nature of God
Speaker#1:
00:41:35.32 – 00:41:38.449
that God himself is subject to
Speaker#1:
00:41:39.59 – 00:41:41.389
God cannot
Speaker#1:
00:41:42.479 – 00:41:56.28
act contrary to his law He cannot act contrary to his character and nature He cannot act contrary to true love which is defined by all the law and the prophets
Speaker#1:
00:41:56.969 – 00:42:03.59
Interesting stuff isn’t it to think about And that’s why the arc of the covenant had the 10 commandments in it
Speaker#1:
00:42:04.959 – 00:42:12.629
Rule of law is the biblical social architecture that no ruler is above the law
Speaker#1:
00:42:14.959 – 00:42:18.649
That’s a revolutionary transformational
Speaker#1:
00:42:19.199 – 00:42:20.55
truth isn’t it
Speaker#1:
00:42:21.699 – 00:42:26.429
When the world when rulers of this world try to live above the law
Speaker#1:
00:42:27.439 – 00:42:28.659
it’s a beast
Speaker#1:
00:42:30.479 – 00:42:32.59
and we’re called to fight the beast
Speaker#1:
00:42:33.889 – 00:42:35.55
Rule of law
Speaker#1:
00:42:36.149 – 00:42:48.53
is part of the biblical social architecture So all that to say it’s the transition to you gotta get from Daniel des and make it more interesting than just because they talk about end times right
Speaker#1:
00:42:50.889 – 00:43:12.57
But we are also talking about the gospel of the Kingdom of God And that’s why these ideas are so important A kingdom of God What is the Kingdom of God where the king reigns where the king rules where his law rules and reigns So it it’s just foolishness to say that Yeah I’m a believer in Jesus Christ but I live outside of his kingdom
Speaker#1:
00:43:13.479 – 00:43:18.82
You see I’m delivered out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light
Speaker#1:
00:43:19.439 – 00:43:33.239
I’ve delivered from the Kingdom of Sin into the kingdom of righteousness You you see where I’m going with this We’ve got to start to study and wrestle with the Kingdom of God But all of this to make a transition to
Speaker#1:
00:43:33.81 – 00:43:34.889
the king
Speaker#1:
00:43:35.5 – 00:43:38.5
lives in his palace right
Speaker#1:
00:43:40.54 – 00:43:44.959
And the word for palace in Hebrew this is where the transition is interesting to me
Speaker#1:
00:43:46.09 – 00:43:47.35
is
Speaker#1:
00:43:50.879 – 00:43:52.59
But the word for temple
Speaker#1:
00:43:54.12 – 00:43:57.01
in Hebrew is also
Speaker#1:
00:43:58.169 – 00:44:03.229
and the Hebrew word for temple is also the Hebrew word for palace
Speaker#1:
00:44:05.3 – 00:44:16.429
And I like that So like when you’re translating you have to figure out context tell which one it is But it’s this idea The temple See I like Rush He says whoever makes your laws is your God
Speaker#1:
00:44:19.129 – 00:44:25.06
Right So there’s an intimate connection between religion and politics
Speaker#1:
00:44:25.61 – 00:44:32.689
People keep people say oh oh keep your religion out of politics or keep it separate or don’t talk about But
Speaker#1:
00:44:33.87 – 00:44:34.939
the Hebrew
Speaker#1:
00:44:35.919 – 00:44:37.449
palace and temple
Speaker#1:
00:44:38.3 – 00:44:40.81
what am I supposed to do You See
Speaker#1:
00:44:41.36 – 00:44:43.01
Gosh Ephesians
Speaker#1:
00:44:43.729 – 00:44:47.879
I’m gonna go through this fast fast fast fast Um
Speaker#1:
00:44:48.81 – 00:45:00.0
But I wanted to point out the fact that when God rules and reigns the worship of any culture of any family of any individual changes the very manifestation on earth
Speaker#1:
00:45:00.629 – 00:45:14.26
from darkness to light from oppression to liberty That’s where I’m going You can’t separate political forms from religious forms as what we worship is what we become like
Speaker#1:
00:45:14.79 – 00:45:43.899
We either worship and serve the God revealed in scripture in Jesus Christ or we worship some other God And when we worship any other than Jesus Christ it becomes hell on earth Here’s my quick transition Ephesians four because we are the temple of God We’re talking about the kingdom of God We’re talking about the end times So I’m gonna actually the next time I preach I’m gonna start with this Ephesians I’m gonna close with this Ephesians So that way we transition Well how do you like that
Speaker#1:
00:45:44.989 – 00:45:51.85
And and can you send me a text to remind me about that So I don’t change my mind Yes please Um
Speaker#1:
00:45:52.389 – 00:46:05.159
Ephesians four Actually I wrote I like what I did here I love having paper instead of just the Bible to save time I I cut it to pieces 47 and 11 through 13 and 15 through 16
Speaker#1:
00:46:07.35 – 00:46:17.85
But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift we’re gonna dig into this because the transition with the temple is we are the temple of God
Speaker#1:
00:46:18.929 – 00:46:21.54
We are the temple of God on earth
Speaker#1:
00:46:23.35 – 00:46:29.01
And now we need to look if we if we really care about your kingdom come your will be done We need to dig into
Speaker#1:
00:46:29.639 – 00:46:57.199
the temple on earth the body of Christ the church But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift And he gave some to be apostles some prophets some evangel some pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ Till we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God to a perfect man to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ
Speaker#1:
00:46:57.54 – 00:47:12.82
But speaking the truth and love may grow up into in all things into him Who is the head Christ from whom the whole body joined and knit together by what every joint supplies according to the effect of working by which every part does It share causes
Speaker#1:
00:47:13.34 – 00:47:16.729
the growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love
Speaker#1:
00:47:18.429 – 00:47:24.939
So we’re gonna close with the eschatology revealed in here which it makes you choke
Speaker#1:
00:47:25.61 – 00:47:28.8
scripture makes you choke It really does
Speaker#1:
00:47:29.35 – 00:47:32.0
It’s like can’t I just throw that passage out
Speaker#1:
00:47:32.969 – 00:47:41.55
Mission impossible But with God mission impossible So I’m gonna slow it down and with the eschatology close it up and pick up on here from here Next time
Speaker#1:
00:47:42.719 – 00:48:01.649
he gave some to the apostles prophets evangelists and pastors and teachers he gave them for a purpose of equipping the saints for the work of ministry to edify the body of Christ So that is what’s going to function How long So the question we ask how long is that going to function
Speaker#1:
00:48:01.919 – 00:48:13.959
How long will that be in operation That’s a great question right How long will these things be until we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God
Speaker#1:
00:48:14.87 – 00:48:19.709
I can take that That’s that that’s hard to define So I can look at that in many ways
Speaker#1:
00:48:20.219 – 00:48:26.09
Well how what else will it be in operation until until we come to a perfect man
Speaker#1:
00:48:28.54 – 00:48:36.379
These things will operate in the church until we come to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ
Speaker#1:
00:48:41.629 – 00:48:43.939
There’s a hard eschatology for you
Speaker#1:
00:48:46.53 – 00:48:59.87
What this God is We sent His holy spirit He’s anointed the church of Jesus Christ for these things to be in operation until we come to the measure of the stature of Christ
Speaker#1:
00:49:02.699 – 00:49:03.899
What else does it say
Speaker#1:
00:49:04.59 – 00:49:10.78
that we will grow up in all things into him Who is the head Christ
Speaker#1:
00:49:14.07 – 00:49:15.32
powerful
Speaker#1:
00:49:16.27 – 00:49:25.409
stuff that if we look at it accurately as saying these things shall all take place before the true vinyl end
Speaker#1:
00:49:27.479 – 00:49:29.36
And that’s why when my buddy said
Speaker#1:
00:49:29.929 – 00:49:34.78
the rapture is going to come before October I said I don’t think so
Speaker#1:
00:49:35.61 – 00:49:37.75
I don’t see that that we’re close yet
Speaker#1:
00:49:39.53 – 00:49:41.75
Oh Ye of little faith
Speaker#1:
00:49:43.01 – 00:49:44.04
What do you mean
Speaker#1:
00:49:47.139 – 00:49:48.82
in the twinkling of an eye
Speaker#1:
00:49:49.52 – 00:49:51.889
at the revelation of Jesus Christ
Speaker#1:
00:49:52.489 – 00:50:00.399
We’re gonna I’m gonna can also text me to follow up on this part too early and latter rain Put that in the same text Thank you
Speaker#1:
00:50:01.489 – 00:50:18.149
because this stuff is so like because I just was challenging myself I don’t expect it because my faith is weak but he talks about pouring out the early and latter rain in one day the early rain causes the seed to sprout forth The latter rain brings in the harvest which is maturity
Speaker#1:
00:50:19.29 – 00:50:23.419
How long does it take to transform our life
Speaker#1:
00:50:26.26 – 00:50:28.83
I think it’s connected a little to faith isn’t it
Speaker#1:
00:50:30.179 – 00:50:32.159
It could take a very long time
Speaker#1:
00:50:33.12 – 00:50:34.82
or could happen fast
Speaker#1:
00:50:36.28 – 00:50:40.8
with the revelation of Jesus Christ through an encounter with the Holy Spirit
Speaker#1:
00:50:42.28 – 00:50:49.889
So the reason I’m sharing these things Daniel in the end times is because we need to have an expectation of hope
Speaker#1:
00:50:51.129 – 00:50:55.989
We have to believe that there is power to transform this world
Speaker#1:
00:50:57.03 – 00:50:59.929
We have to understand the connection
Speaker#1:
00:51:00.739 – 00:51:03.649
that the Kingdom of God has
Speaker#1:
00:51:04.26 – 00:51:07.77
to hope in the world The new covenant the gospel of the Kingdom
Speaker#1:
00:51:08.34 – 00:51:25.989
and understand that the heart of it is the church the body of Christ the temple of the living God that will transform the world And we need to see the power and importance of prayer and faith connected to this expectation If we’re going to bear fruit
Speaker#1:
00:51:27.28 – 00:51:29.909
and we need the Holy Spirit
Speaker#1:
00:51:30.55 – 00:51:32.6
we need power from on high
Speaker#1:
00:51:33.12 – 00:51:37.169
We need to be a new covenant church not an old covenant church
Speaker#1:
00:51:38.199 – 00:51:46.949
And so we’re just bringing these kind of scriptures out bringing these kind of teachings out so that we would wrestle with simple ideas like
Speaker#1:
00:51:47.469 – 00:51:53.739
your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven Is this even possible
Speaker#1:
00:51:54.419 – 00:52:08.85
I believe it intellectually great It doesn’t matter until we start to persevere in prayer about it start asking and seeking and knocking until we are a community that says not on my watch Will the light go out in this world
Speaker#1:
00:52:11.219 – 00:52:17.33
Not on my watch Will the spirit of darkness prevail in a world when we are the light of the world
Speaker#1:
00:52:18.03 – 00:52:25.32
on our watch to be part of a people of God that are committed to the gospel of the kingdom
Speaker#1:
00:52:26.05 – 00:52:44.5
to standing side by side as the army of God and say not on my watch will darkness prevail in our generation because we are armed with the precious promises of God the power of the Holy Spirit and a commitment to prayer
Speaker#1:
00:52:45.08 – 00:52:46.33
in Jesus name
