Faith and the Name of Jesus

The name of Jesus is above every other name.

Summary

The name of Jesus is so powerful that through faith in His name we can exercise authority over sickness, disease and over all the power of evil spirits.

Outline

  1. Review of the difference between faith and hope.
    1. Hope always deals with the future – always an expectation of things to come, faith makes it real today – gives substance to things hoped for.
    2. Faith reaches into the realm of hope and makes it reality.
    3. Often our confessions are contrary to faith and with God’s word.
    4. There is a difference between being named through the anointing and being named by faith.
    5. The forgiveness of sins qualifies is for healing from our sicknesses and diseases.
    6. When you say you are healed and believe it does not mean you throw out your medications.
    7. Our minds are cleaned by the word of God.
    8. Of you constantly think of ourselves as sick rather healthy we will never activate our faith for healing.
    9. George had allergies really bad, but he began studying faith for healing, then he began confessing his healing and quit taking medicine, so he took medicine and still confessed his healing.   He kept confessing and then cut his grass and he was able to do more before he had to take medicine. Finally, he was able to mow his yard without medicine.
    10. The world trains us to think contrary to God’s word.
    11. Our minds’ need to change before our bodies’ change.
  2. The Devil’s only power is deception.
    1. God took care of everything on the cross. We often pray for Good to do things that He has already done. Deception keeps us from believing and receiving what God has already done for us.
    2. We need to both believe and confess what God has already done for us.
    3. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law. Every sickness and disease is a part of the curse.
    4. We often want to blame God for the bad things that happen to us.
  3. If you will believe Jesus is Lord and that He has been raised from the dead, then you believe in miracles.
    1. As confess Jesus as Lord we are ripped from the kingdom of darkness and translated into the kingdom of light.
    2. We need to continually confess that Jesus is the Lord of our lives.
  4. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.
    1. The curse includes sickness, disease, poverty, lack, etc.
    2. Every part of the curse we have been redeemed from by Jesus Christ.
  5. We often get ourselves in trouble, but whenever we call on the name of the Lord, He will deliver us.
    1. Peter took his eyes off Jesus and began to sink, the moment he called on the name of the Lord he was saved.
    2. Jesus rebuked Peter for his doubt, but He still rescued him.
  6. How well do we know God? His heart, how much He loves us, how committed to the fulfillment of his word.
    1. Those who know their God will be strong and will do exploits.
    2. The heroes of the OT believed God, acted on the covenant and miracles took place.
    3. When we believe and act according to His covenant miracles take place.
  7. Deut. 7 to Psalm 18 – there is an attitude expressed in these scripture that the church as a whole in our nation does not have.
    1. The Israelites were called to go against nations greater and mightier than they were, but not greater than God.
    2. We often act like the devil is huge and God is small. – Our God is a big God.
    3. Sometimes we are so focused on the problem that we act as though God cannot handle it.
    4. David declared the truth of God over his life continually. Do we do that? We need to start proclaiming God over every area of our life.
    5. David had the attitude of beating down his enemies until they were dust, and we should have the same attitude toward the devil.
    6. Our enemy is not people, but the devil. God has delivered our enemy into our hand.
    7. We need to come against sickness and disease and drive it from our body.
  8. The fear of the Lord – to love what He loves and hate what He hates.
    1. There is many in the church that are not walking in the fear of the Lord.
    2. So often the church embraces the sin and attitude of the world.
  9. Hebrews 1:14 – The name of Jesus is more excellent than every other name.
    1. The name of Jesus is not like a rabbit’s foot; it is very powerful – it is to be used with faith.
    2. The enemy recognizes the name of Jesus.
    3. Philippians – Jesus given a name above every other name. All things have to bow before His name, even sickness and disease.
    4. We should pray the prayer if Ephesians 1 every day. If we will pray it every day we will see things change in our lives.
    5. God wants our eyes open, but the eyes of most of the church are closed to these truths.
    6. Jesus is so far above all others that all things are under His feet. He is the head of all things for the church.
    7. The first time God gave Jesus it was as the Lamb who died for the sins of the world, then He gave Him back as the Lion of Judah, the Lord of all.
  10. We are to go preaching that the kingdom of God is at hand, and then demonstrate it.
    1. This is our commission.
    2. When we use the authority of the name of Jesus we are able to command sickness and disease and devils to go.
    3. God have us authority over devils but not people. Some people choose to keep their devils, but we can still stop them from coming against us.
  11. The authority God gave in the great commission belongs to us.
