Fit to Be Used

God will use you to minister His love and saving power in the world.

Summary

God’s desire is to use every believer to spread His love and saving grace to the nations. When we walk in the Holy Spirit and are connected to a healthy body of believers, God will use us in amazing ways. Pastor Mike Torres encourages believers to minister where God has placed us by sharing testimonies of how God has used him in the marketplace.

Outline

  1. Being used by God.
    1. A lot of people want to know how to be used by God.
    2. People often limit “being used by God” to the pulpit.
    3. We are all ministers of Jesus Christ, and we can be used by God everywhere.
  2. 2 Timothy 2
    1. Paul talks to Timothy about his service to the King, and he advises him how to handle it.
    2. He describes the different types of adversity he would face, even within himself.
    3. He gives instruction on how to present himself as a servant of God.
    4. We all have, or should have a desire to be used by God.
    5. The fire of adversity burns up our imperfections and refines us for a special work.
    6. Wood and clay are very fragile, easily broken or destroyed by fire.
    7. We have to allow God to work in our lives as we offer ourselves completely to Him.
    8. God will use us, but have a choice of what God will use us for.
    9. There is a clear responsibility to make a choice of being used for God.
  3. Mike was born again in 2002 and very shortly began working for a corporation in Austin.
    1. He started getting prophetic words – many of them from many people.
    2. He began working in a warehouse.
    3. He got a word that he would speak to rulers and people of influence about God.
      1. He thought that it would be impossible in the position he was in.
      2. He simply began by opening his mouth where he was.
      3. He began talking to more people, and one day he joined their golf tournament – there were no slots, but he was told to go in case someone does not show up – Mike did not even know who he was – he was the operations director. Began talking to him about his faith. It turns out he went to church as well. The point is that God’s word comes to pass.
    4. He got a word that he would preach to the nations.
      1. Mike got promoted to a new department. They had seasonal work with about 200 temps. Mike noticed they were from all over the world. They got a world map and put flags and pins where they came from. There were flags all over, and the Lord spoke to him – you do not need to go to the nations, they are already here.
      2. Mike got to witness to people from all over the world about Jesus.
    5. God told him he would heal the sick.
      1. Mike saw people getting healed in the church, and he began to wonder if it happens outside the church.
      2. He began praying for people whenever he heard they were not feeling good. He simply asked them if they would like prayer for it.
      3. He prayed for someone who had migraines for years, and God healed them.
      4. He prayed for someone in pain and God healed them.
      5. God began opening opportunities to pray for people there. Every time those opportunities came, Mike remembered the prophetic word.
  4. God told him he would lead people to the Lord – God used the miracles to reach people.
    1. Mike was able to lead people to the Lord at work – the man actually asked to be led to the Lord.
    2. Two Muslims who worked there had a sister who got sick. They had seen God use Mike to heal people and they asked him to come and pray for her. When he showed up, there was a lot of family there, and many were concerned because Mike was not a Muslim, but the man who worked with Mike quieted everyone and exclaimed he wanted Mike to pray for her. He did and God healed her.
  5. One day a woman challenged Mike because she did not believe God speaks.
    1. She challenged Mike that there was a woman at work with a problem, but she would not tell Mike who it was. She challenged him to tell her who it was, what the problem was, and what she should do about it.
    2. Mike took the challenge and began praying. She began mocking Mike. Weeks go by without any answer.
    3. One day in a meeting, Mike saw a paper float down and hover over her. He peeked over and saw what was written there. From that God gave Mike a word for her and so he told her all about it.
    4. He then told the original woman all about it.
    5. Later she pulled Mike and told him “I know God hears you and you hear God” and asked Mike to pray to heal a child in her family in Mexico, and immediately they were healed.
  6. The prophetic word over Mike’s life transformed his life.
    1. Everything God did was just as much a blessing to Mike.
    2. It does not matter what you are doing, God wants to use you.
    3. The new operations manager even quickly became friends with Mike. He asked Mike to hold him accountable to going to men’s breakfasts at church, by going himself.
  7. February this year, Mike realized that there was no one left to talk to at his job.
    1. He began thinking God was going to move him out of there.
    2. They recently got news that Austin plant is being shut down.
    3. The day before the public announcement, Mike was praying to be available for anyone who needs him. In walks the director and he asked him to go and pray over every workstation.
    4. Mike realized that he was doing his real job.
  8. The prophetic words tied to our lives and church cause things to happen in our lives.
