they’re telling the wonders of God in all of these people’s different individual languages speaking their mother tongues right to them about the wonders of God And people are freaking out And of course there’s always somebody in the crowd that’s like you know gonna say something crazy So they’re like oh they’re drunk That’s what’s going on These guys have been drinking And so that’s where Peter starts out That’s where this text starts off in in acts chapter two for uh verse 14 But Peter is standing with the 11 lifted up his voice and addressed them

This is a really cool thing that God does in terms of timing because or Pentecost as it’s known in Greek and and in English uh is the time when tradition Jewish tradition says the law was given OK that God comes down on Mount Sinai in fire and smoke

And so that’s part of the celebration There there are several things that are celebrated in red on this holiday called which just means weeks If you look in your scripture and your old covenant scriptures your old Testament and the law it’s called the Feast of Weeks

And what it is specifically is one of three holidays that God requires Israel to attend in the place where God has his Tabernacle temple In this case the temple and it’s in Jerusalem So if you live in the land of Israel you’ve gotta go you gotta prepare you gotta figure it out you bring your whole family everybody comes three times a year to the temple to to party OK Festival party That’s what it means
