Lord Over All

Jesus is Lord over all or he is not lord at all.

Summary

God wants us to know fulness of life, but that is only found when we are daily in communion with Jesus.  He is our good sheperhed and he wants to transform our lives so that we know righteousness peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.  That is the type of life that we experience once we realize that if Jesus is not our Lord, neither is he our savior.  As we submit to His Lordship, we actually find fulness of life.  God wants to move powerfully through his church to minister to nations once we are awakened to a life of daily communion with Jesus who is both our Good Shepherd and Lord.

Outline

  1. God feeds the hungry

    1. If you are hungry for God you will be filled.
    2. If you are satisfied with your life, you will receive nothing.
  2. The Lord is my Shepherd – Psalm 23.

    1. If we let it, God’s word will transform our lives.
  3. God experiences emotions.

    1. Jesus was rejected by men.
    2. God’s heart breaks over the sins of the world – He cares about us.
    3. Jesus wept over Jerusalem.
  4. This Psalm is for the healing of the mind.

    1. Healing comes from bringing people into a right relationship with the physical, moral and spiritual laws of God.
    2. A man is what he thinks about all day long.
    3. When we change our thoughts we have the power to change the world.
  5. The Lord wants to minister to people.

    1. He wants to bring us into green pastures – a place of life and faith. Sheep will graze all day until they die, so shepherds make the sheep lie down so they will digest what they eat. Then they can drink water.
    2. Sometimes we get up early in the morning and we go all day long, and never lie down in green pastures.
    3. All day our lives should be committed to Christ in the midst of all of the things that we do in life. We are called to do all things in the light. We are called to be Christ-like and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
  6. Shepherds give the sheep personal attention – they need to know he is there.

    1. We also need to get a touch from God daily. We need to know He is with us.
    2. We need to know that our shepherd is with us. No one attacks the sheep when the shepherd is with them.
    3. In the presence of their shepherd, the sheep have contentment.
    4. God is only with us through faith.
    5. Some of us need to get revived and revitalized through a personal encounter with Jesus.
    6. By personally touching the sheep, the state of the whole herd is lifted up.
    7. Jesus’ sheep know his voice – we have to cultivate knowing his voice by getting in His word, getting around his people who build us up.
    8. We are called to taste of the goodness of God and be filled with enjoyment (joy).
    9. Joy is not dependent upon what we have in the world, if we possess Christ, we possess all things in Him. We find our contentment in Jesus.
    10. When we submit to the ordinances of God, we submit to divine order, and there we find peace.
  7. Those who are under grace do not want to break God’s law.

    1. God’s grace in our lives compels us to live according to God’s law.
    2. Salvation is equivalent to Lordship. If Jesus is not our Lord He is not our savior.
    3. There is no salvation apart from submitting our lives completely to Jesus.
    4. Romans 10:9 includes confession of Jesus as Lord – meaning that we submit total allegiance to Him.
    5. Christ is not divided, you cannot receive only part of Him. If you do not receive Him as He is, you have not received him at all.
    6. We are called to intimately know the truth – Jesus is the truth.
    7. To have eternal life is to possess Christ – which is only when He possesses all of us.
    8. Many in the church would rather have an entertainment or theatrics club, but they do not want Jesus – the true word of God.
    9. Salvation is not just a gift of eternal life distinct from Jesus.
  8. True Christianity is an ongoing friendship with the triune God.

  9. God’s right to rule is intrinsic.

    1. God’s lordship is all throughout both the Old and New Testament.
    2. It is always Lord and Savior – they cannot be divided.
    3. God is after one thing in this vast universe – humanity is the only aspect of creation which can respond back to him. We can respond to him in the affirmative or negative – we are moral agents.
    4. We are required to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength.
    5. He is knocking on people’s door, calling them to respond to them.
  10. If the church ever gets awakened, there will be thousands that come to salvation in Jesus.

    1. God is desperate to move in His church.
    2. We are called to be agents of the Holy Spirit and minister in His power.
    3. Loafers Glory Revival – over on 183.
    4. It should not just be the ministers crying for revival.
    5. Revival always has been a response to crying out to God.
    6. The youth are being led like sheep to the slaughter, only the church has the power to change their destinies – it will only happen when we awaken and cry out to God for this generation.
    7. Cartright revival (sp?) 1700 – saved a whole generation of youth.
    8. Bishop is asking God to come and break our hearts so we will not be indifferent to the state of the youth.
    9. God does not want us ministering to kids if we are dead – they will see right through it.
    10. Bishop is compelled by the Lord because He is after revival.
    11. The business of the church is to go out and save people and to represent the kingdom of God – unfortunately the church often opposes it.
    12. When God brings multitudes of youth the faith, we need to roll up our sleeves and serve them and disciple them.
  11. God is crying out for righteousness.

    1. Those who call Jesus savior and Lord – He is asking us to believe in Jesus.
    2. He is calling us to have the spirit of Caleb and Joshua.
    3. He is calling us to be bold and relentless in serving the Lord.
  12. We are under the covenant of God

    1. On one side is what He has done for us, on the other is what He requires from us.
    2. When we are in covenant with God, we have access to the presence of God.
