Pastor David Joiner teaches about how the gifts of the Holy Spirit are necessary for the church to be built up.

Summary

God wants to encourage and build people up and He has given us the gifts of the Holy Spirit to build up the church. If we are going see people fulfill their destinies in Christ, the gifts of the Spirit must be in operation. God has ordained them to build up His body, and without them, we lack the power to fulfill God’s purposes in our lives.

Outline

1. Men are so sluggish, there are so many things to lead their minds off from Jesus and to oppose the influence of the gospel, that it is necessary to raise excitement among them, till the tide rises so high as to sweep away the opposing obstacles. Charles G. Finney

a. 1 Corinthians 12
b. Always opposition!
c. We must get all obstacles out of the way!

2. Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant. What did Paul want to emphasize?

a. Is the world full of false teachers? YES! Paul gives us a test
b. Anyone can claim to speak for God

4. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body–whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free–and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many.

5. Revival Bible: honor-the key to unity what is the matter with the world today? Here is a little selfish sect and there is a denomination by itself. They do not love one another as God commanded. Let us honor every bit of God there is in one another. Let us honor the Holy Ghost to teach men to get them out of their error. Dear ones, watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. b. We are believers, and are in the world together

7. Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? Do all have gifts of healings?
