Knocked Down but Not Knocked Out

Life can throw some serious punches our way, and it’s easy to feel knocked down. But let me remind you: a knockdown is never a knockout! Today, I want to share with you some thoughts and lessons that remind us of the resilience we have through faith, and how we can rise up, no matter how hard we fall.

Greeting and Acknowledgment

First, I want to express my deep gratitude for the warm welcome I always receive here at Life Springs Christian Church. Your kindness and hospitality make every visit a blessing. Each time I come, I feel the love of this community, and it fills my heart with joy.

The Reality of Struggles

Let’s talk about the struggles we face. In my home country, there are many challenges. We deal with a leadership that opposes our faith, leading to violence against our people. Daily, we hear of lives lost simply for refusing to denounce Jesus Christ. Yet, in the midst of such turmoil, we cling to hope and faith.

One story that stands out is of a young girl who was captured for her beliefs. She stood firm, saying, “I will serve Him in life and in death.” This kind of faith is powerful and serves as a reminder that our struggles are not in vain. Your prayers help us endure, and we are grateful for your support.

Waiting for God

Now, let’s dive into the message. In the book of Micah, we find words of encouragement. Micah 7:8 says, “Rejoice not over me, oh my enemy; when I fall, I shall arise.” This is a powerful declaration! Just because we face setbacks doesn’t mean the story is over. There is always hope for tomorrow.

We must understand that faith is about believing in the unseen. Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. When we fall, it’s not the end; it’s just a chapter in our story.

Examples of Resilience

Let’s look at David, a man who faced many disappointments. From being overlooked by his own family to facing threats on his life, David’s journey was not easy. Yet, he remained steadfast in his faith. When Samuel came to anoint the next king, David was in the fields, tending sheep. But God had a plan for him, and when the time was right, He called David out.

Just like David, you may feel unnoticed or unappreciated, but remember: God sees you. Your moment will come. It’s crucial to keep the faith, even when life feels overwhelming.

God’s Surprises

God is full of surprises! Just as He instructed Joshua to lead the Israelites across the Jordan River, He calls us to step out in faith. Joshua didn’t hesitate; he announced that they would cross over. And what happened? The waters parted! When we step out in faith, God makes a way for us.

Think about the challenges you face today. What is your Jordan River? Whatever it is, God is capable of parting those waters. Trust in His timing and His plan. When the odds seem stacked against you, remember that a knockdown is never a knockout.

Facing Adversity

When we encounter difficulties, it’s easy to feel defeated. But we must remember that every setback is an opportunity for God to lift us higher. The Bible tells us in Romans 10:13, “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” In times of trouble, we must call upon Him.

During challenging times, I recall the events of September 11. In the aftermath of that tragedy, many turned to God, seeking comfort and hope. It’s a reminder that we shouldn’t wait for calamity to seek Him. He is always there, waiting for us to invite Him into our lives.

Job’s Example

Let’s not forget Job. He lost everything, yet he remained faithful. When all seemed lost, he worshipped God. Job knew that his circumstances did not define him. His faith was unshakeable, and in the end, he was restored beyond what he had before.

Job’s story teaches us that we may experience loss, but we can rise again. Remember, a knockdown is never a knockout. Each time you fall, you have the choice to get back up and keep moving forward.

The Power of Praise

In the midst of trials, we must learn to praise God. Psalm 27 encourages us to wait on the Lord. David understood that waiting is not passive; it’s an active faith. When we praise Him, we shift our focus from our problems to His greatness.

Let me share a personal story. A friend of mine was searching for a job and faced constant rejection. But instead of succumbing to despair, he remained positive, declaring that the right job was coming. Eventually, he not only found a job but was promoted to a managerial position! His persistence and faith paid off.

God’s Timing

Sometimes, we feel like we’re stuck, waiting for something to change. But remember, God’s timing is perfect. He knows what we need and when we need it. Just like the Israelites waited for their deliverance, we too must trust in His plan.

When Moses was leading the Israelites out of Egypt, they faced obstacles that seemed insurmountable. Yet, God was with them every step of the way, parting the Red Sea and providing for their needs. He does the same for us today.

Conclusion: Rise Up!

In closing, I urge you to remember that a knockdown is never a knockout. Life may knock you down, but you have the strength to rise again. God is with you, and He has a purpose for your life. Don’t let setbacks define you; let them refine you.
