The Roots of Racism and Privilege: A Journey Through Faith and Society

In a world fraught with division and turmoil, we embark on a journey to explore the roots of racism and privilege, seeking to understand how God’s kingdom can advance amidst such challenges. As we navigate these complex topics, we find ourselves reflecting on cultural phenomena and historical events that have shaped our society.

Awakening to Reality: The Red Pill

Elon Musk recently tweeted, “Take the red pill,” referencing the movie The Matrix, where human beings were reduced to mere batteries in a false reality governed by machines. This metaphor has become a cultural symbol for awakening to reality, and it resonates deeply with the truths of God’s kingdom that often emerge even in secular contexts.

In The Matrix, we see a world that has lost its humanity, its image of God, and its divine purpose. The concept of taking the red pill has been appropriated as a metaphor for a cultural awakening, a call to face reality and recognize that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Historical Reflections: Protests and Deception

This week, I had a fascinating conversation with Charles Summers, who shared his experience of nearly becoming a professional protester in the past. Before the age of cell phones and social media, there was a nationwide call to descend on Washington, D.C., for a protest. However, the reality behind the scenes was far more complex than the surface message of “No More War.”

Charles discovered that the protest was part of a communist revolution, a movement fueled by deception and lies to keep people in bondage. The organizers were not motivated by ending the war; instead, they aimed for a total transformation of culture.

The Power of Ideas: A Cultural Revolution

A book titled None Dare Call It Treason by a KGB defector revealed the extent to which communist agendas infiltrated American campuses during the Vietnam War. Millions were pumped into campus groups, funding an army not with weapons but with ideas and rhetoric. The belief that “the pen is mightier than the sword” fueled their strategy to own the hearts and minds of the people.

Charles was offered the chance to become a professional protester, with promises of training and full funding for his needs. This encounter highlights the spirit of the age, where deception and manipulation often mask the true intentions of cultural movements.

The Prophetic Voice: Calling for Change

Throughout history, prophets have passionately spoken about the structure and governance of the world. They decried religious practices devoid of justice and called people back to covenant obedience. Today, we need prophetic voices to guide us toward righteousness and provide leadership for our nation.

Many in the church today lack biblical literacy and discernment, leading to support for movements they do not fully understand. As a result, they end up like the churches that unwittingly supported communist revolutionaries. We must become the head, not the tail, providing leadership and direction.

A Vision for Life: Scripture and Society

As we explore the roots of racism and privilege, we do so with a vision for life that aligns with God’s purposes. Our journey through Scripture reveals the profound connection between spiritual awakening and societal transformation.

The first Great Awakening in America led to the rise of a generation we call the founding fathers. Awakened by a spiritual revival, they applied biblical principles to structure society. Despite attempts to rewrite history, the legacy of these principles endures.

Encountering Grace: The Living Word

In Acts 13, Paul preaches in the synagogue at Antioch of Pisidia, and the response is remarkable. The Gentiles begged for the word to be preached again, indicating the transformational power of the Living Word. The grace of God encountered through Paul’s message changed lives and set people free.

The grace of God is not merely about receiving what we don’t deserve; it is the power and presence of God that empowers us to love and forgive. When people encounter the Living Word, they cannot remain the same.

The Clash of Kingdoms: Racism and Privilege

Racism and privilege are rooted in a clash between kingdoms. The greatest racial divide in history was between Jew and Gentile, marked by centuries of pain and suffering. Yet, through the Holy Spirit, the early church learned to embrace all cultures and ethnicities.

Racism dehumanizes and depersonalizes, perpetuating division and strife. The cross of Christ, however, has the power to destroy racism and unite people through love and forgiveness.

The Spirit of the Age: Addressing Lawlessness

The spirit of lawlessness manifests in various forms, from anarchy to totalitarianism. Anarchy may seem like freedom, but it ultimately leads to tyranny and oppression. The church must rise to discern good and evil, providing a moral compass for society.

As we confront the spirit of the age, we must boldly proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord. He is the Messiah who sets us free from sin and bondage, offering true liberty and justice.

The Power of Privilege: A New Perspective

Privilege is often misunderstood as limited and exclusive, but in reality, it is rooted in our worldview, faith, and values. The Jews, despite facing immense racism, have a culture and character that prevent them from being victims. Their success is a testament to the power of culture and values.

The greatest privilege is being born again, knowing God, and walking in His presence. It is a privilege that transcends social and economic status, offering peace, joy, and purpose.

Our Mission: Awakening to Globalism

As the church, we are called to be ambassadors of God’s kingdom, offering hope and light in a world of darkness. We are witnessing an awakening against globalism, an opportunity to point people to Jesus Christ as the true way to freedom and justice.

Through prayer, boldness, and the Living Word, we can ignite a fire that transforms lives and regions, bringing forth the kingdom of God on earth.

In conclusion, we stand at a pivotal moment in history, where the choices we make can shape the future of our nation and world. Let us be the prophetic voice that guides people to the way of life, embracing the transformative power of God’s kingdom.

Authentic Relational Church — The Jerusalem Model

Christianity can appear successful by worldly standards—big buildings and large attendance—yet still miss the transforming power Jesus intended. When the church is organized by systems instead of organic, family-shaped relationships, it often fails to reflect heaven on earth. The heart of the problem is structural. A mechanistic church produces mechanical results, while a church rooted in belonging and the gospel brings life, healing, and renewal. The dream is simple: every person experiences love, welcome, and a personal encounter with Jesus. Discover how the early church’s model can inspire a thriving, relational community today.
