In a world filled with distractions and challenges, it becomes vital to reconnect with our spiritual roots. The message of the “Sons and Daughters of Liberty” serves as a reminder of our calling as believers in Christ. This post explores the essence of this calling, the importance of community, and the transformative power of the Holy Spirit.

The Importance of Community in Christian Life

Life Springs Church is a vibrant community of believers who embody the love of Jesus. The quality of Christian life in this community is a blessing that many can benefit from. When individuals connect with genuine, authentic believers, it fosters an environment where spiritual growth can thrive.

The church is not just a building; it’s a living organism composed of individuals united in their mission. It’s essential that every believer recognizes their unique role within this body. As the scripture states, when each member does their part, the body grows in love. The relaunch of Life Springs Church aims to activate and unify this calling, ensuring that everyone can contribute to something meaningful.

Relaunching with Purpose

The upcoming relaunch, tentatively scheduled for September 11th, is a strategic move to re-engage the community. September is often a time when people return from vacation and settle into a new routine, making it an ideal time for outreach and connection.

Meetings will be held on Saturday mornings, providing opportunities for those interested to get involved. The focus will be on the assimilation system, developing a comprehensive welcome team, and ensuring a smooth integration of new members. These efforts are vital for creating an inviting atmosphere for newcomers.

Understanding Our Mission

Central to our mission is the understanding that Jesus came to kindle a fire on the earth. This fire represents the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, which is essential for spiritual vitality. Jesus expressed his desire for this fire to be ignited, emphasizing its significance in the life of every believer.

We often find ourselves asking what drives us. What are the passions that propel us forward? Each of us has a “fire” that motivates our actions, whether it’s personal ambitions, relationships, or spiritual pursuits. Recognizing this passion is crucial for our spiritual journey.

Jesus’ Purpose: Destroying the Works of the Devil

In 1 John 3:8, we learn that Jesus was manifested to destroy the works of the devil. This mission is not just historical; it is ongoing. Jesus’ purpose was to bring life, healing, and freedom to all who believe. The question we must ask ourselves is whether we live with the expectation that Jesus will fulfill this purpose in our lives today.

Many struggle with feelings of inadequacy, believing that they are not worthy of God’s grace. However, our worth is not determined by our actions but by our identity as children of God. We are created in His image, endowed with significance and purpose. This understanding is vital for overcoming the lies that the enemy tries to instill in our hearts.

The Role of the Holy Spirit

Jesus began his ministry empowered by the Holy Spirit, and the same Spirit is available to us today. Luke 4:18-19 captures the essence of Jesus’ mission: to preach good news, heal the brokenhearted, and proclaim liberty to the captives. This is the fire that we are called to ignite in our communities.

The Holy Spirit is not merely a historical figure; He is active and at work within us. The baptism of the Holy Spirit empowers believers to live victoriously and to minister effectively. It is essential for us to be continually filled with the Spirit, as this fuels our passion and effectiveness in ministry.

Rekindling the Fire

As we reflect on our spiritual lives, we must ask ourselves: Are we allowing the fire of the Holy Spirit to burn brightly within us? The enemy seeks to dim this fire, leading us to doubt God’s power and presence in our lives. However, we can choose to rekindle that fire through prayer, worship, and the Word of God.

Stories of revival, such as those from the Isle of Lewis, remind us of the power of prayer and the transformative work of the Holy Spirit. When believers come together in unity, seeking God’s face, powerful movements of God can occur. We must not become complacent but rather actively seek the Lord, believing that He can do great things through us.

Our Call to Action

The call to be “sons and daughters of liberty” goes beyond personal freedom; it entails a responsibility to help others experience that same freedom. We are called to proclaim the gospel, not just as a message of salvation but as a movement that liberates individuals from oppression and bondage.

As we celebrate Independence Day, we must remember that true freedom is rooted in Christ. The liberties we cherish in our nation are a reflection of the gospel’s influence throughout history. If we disconnect from our spiritual heritage, we risk losing the very essence of what makes us free.

Conclusion: Embracing Our Identity

As members of Life Springs Church, we are called to embrace our identity as children of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Our mission is to bring the light of Christ into the world, igniting fires of hope and transformation wherever we go. Let us commit to walking in the Spirit, using our gifts to serve others, and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ.

In doing so, we will witness the power of God at work, not only in our lives but also in the lives of those around us. Together, as the sons and daughters of liberty, we can fulfill the calling we have received and make a lasting impact on our community and beyond.

The Sons and Daughters of Liberty

(Sermon Outline)

  1. Why did Jesus say he came to earth?
    1. Luke 12:49 (NKJV) — 49 “I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!
      1. What is the fire He wants kindled?
      1. Do we have similar passion in our heart?
    1. John describes a reason Jesus came to earth: 1 John 3:8b (NKJV) — 8…For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
      1. If He came to destroy the works of the devil, how completely do you expect Him to succeed?
      1. How to you envision God plans to accomplish it?
  2. We gain insight into why Jesus came from the story of His return to Nazareth after beginning his public ministry
    1. This is the first time in Luke where Jesus explained his mission:
    1. Luke 4:16–19 (NKJV) — 16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
    1. Do you believe that work is still continuing today?
    1. The Worldwide Liberation movement
  3. John the Baptist explained the purpose Jesus came to accomplish when explaining his ministry:
    1. Luke 3:16 (NKJV) — 16 John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
    1. There came into my soul a deep peace, a thrilling joy, and a new sense of power. My mind was quickened. I felt that I had received a new faculty of understanding. Every power was vitalized. My bodily powers were quickened. There was a new sense of spring and vitality, a new power of endurance, and a strong man’s exhilaration in big things. Things began to happen.[1]
    1. Revisiting things that kindle a fire in my heart!
      1. Leonard Ravenhill
      1. The revival on the isle of Lewis by Duncan Campbell.
    1. Do we believe God can do this today?  Do we want to see it?
  4. Personal Transformation and the ministry of the church – the goal of the baptism of the spirit is to reproduce the character and ministry of Jesus in the church!
    1. Ephesians 4:(7)–8 (NKJV) —7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.”
    1. The purpose:  Raising up the sons and daughters of Liberty!
    1. 2 Corinthians 3:17–18 (NKJV) — 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

    1. Because we are committed to developing, the enemy will seek to disrupt what God is doing, and we can get ahead of the enemy by keeping kingdom values before us: Proverbs 6:16–19 (NKJV) — 16 These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

Why You Feel Alone in a Crowded Church

One of the great tragedies of modern Christianity is that many people can sit in a room full of believers and still feel profoundly alone. They may attend every week, listen to solid teaching, and genuinely love Jesus, yet something still feels missing. The issue is not that church does not matter, but rather that we have often built church on a worldly model instead of the kingdom model Jesus intended. When the church aligns with God’s design, it becomes a place of healing, transformation, belonging, and encounter with the living Christ. Discover how to cultivate this authentic community.

Organic vs. Institutional: Why Relational Church Changes Everything

The church is meant to be a household, a family that models heaven on earth. In a time of division, the church must reflect the beauty of every tongue, tribe, and nation. Authentic Relational Church — The Jerusalem Model

Christianity can appear successful by worldly standards—big buildings and large attendance—yet still miss the transforming power Jesus intended. When the church is organized by systems instead of organic, family-shaped relationships, it often fails to reflect heaven on earth. The heart of the problem is structural. A mechanistic church produces mechanical results, while a church rooted in belonging and the gospel brings life, healing, and renewal. The dream is simple: every person experiences love, welcome, and a personal encounter with Jesus. Discover how the early church’s model can inspire a thriving, relational community today.

Authentic Relational Church: Rebuilding Genuine Christian Community

The heart of Christianity is not an either/or between a private relationship with Jesus and a gathered church. The church exists as the visible, covenantal expression of Christ’s life in the world—meant to reflect heaven rather than hell. Yet, many have been hurt by institutions that resemble churches but operate like machines. This pain often leads to a common response: “I have a personal relationship with Jesus; I don’t need church.” Discover how authentic Christian community can heal these wounds and why rebuilding genuine relationships within the church is essential for transforming lives and the world around us.
