Holding Rank: A Tribute to Veterans and a Call to Service

Growing up as an army brat, I learned the value of discipline and sacrifice from my father, who served in the military for thirty years. His stories of bravery and honor shape my understanding of service. This Veterans Day, I wear my father’s retired uniform and display his flag as a tribute to his legacy and the sacrifices he made for our freedom.
In honoring our veterans, we also acknowledge their families who support them through thick and thin. The sacrifices of military families are often overlooked, yet they play a crucial role in the lives of those who serve.
The Meaning of the Flag

Unfortunately, we encountered some technical difficulties, but the essence of what the flag symbolizes remains unchanged.
My friend Said, a former soldier and intelligence officer, has a remarkable story of survival that speaks to the resilience of the human spirit. When we discuss immigration, it’s crucial to recognize that many individuals seek refuge and a better life. As a nation built on compassion, we must extend our hands and hearts to those in need. The church has a significant role in this, and I believe we can make a difference by sponsoring families and helping them integrate into our communities.
Lessons from the Sons of Issachar
Let’s turn our attention to the biblical account of the sons of Issachar, who understood the times they lived in and how to respond. In 1 Chronicles 12:32, we learn about their wisdom and insight. They were not just warriors; they were leaders who recognized the importance of holding rank and fulfilling their duties.
