Says Who? And Who Cares What You Think?

Welcome to a journey through the challenging questions of belief, truth, and identity. Today, we’re exploring the questions “Says Who?” and “Who Cares What You Think?”—a dive into the nature of truth and the role of faith in our lives.

The Foundation of Truth

The cornerstone of understanding lies in two principles: there is a God, and you are not Him. These truths are essential for enlightenment. When we talk about truth, it’s crucial to recognize that truth exists independently of our perceptions. It isn’t shaped by our thoughts or feelings but stands on its own, immutable.

Jesus emphasized this with a powerful metaphor: “Whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.” This illustrates the unyielding nature of truth. Embracing truth leads to transformation, while resisting it leads to destruction.

Understanding the World’s Influence

In our world, we face three adversaries: the world, the flesh, and the devil. Each seeks to lead us astray. The world, with its systems and people, often tries to drag us down with it. Our flesh, with its sinful nature, battles against our better judgment. Sin isn’t natural; it’s contrary to God’s design and intent for us.

Sin operates in two ways: the sins we commit and the sins committed against us. Both can cause significant damage, affecting our judgment and moral compass. But there is hope. James wrote, “Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover a multitude of sins.”

The Impact of Sin and Misuse

Imagine taking a finely engineered car and driving it recklessly through rough terrain. The damage would be inevitable. Similarly, when we misuse our lives, we risk significant harm. Without following the ‘owner’s manual’—God’s Word—we risk our well-being.

Ignoring divine guidance leads to writing our own flawed narratives, often based on subjective feelings rather than objective truth. This misalignment can cause confusion and lead us further from our intended path.

Calibrating Our Lives

Just as tools require calibration to function accurately, our lives need alignment with Christ, our ultimate standard. Regular communion with God helps us stay on track, revealing areas in need of adjustment. Jesus, the embodiment of truth, offers the perfect measure against which we can gauge our lives.

Without such calibration, we risk drifting into error, much like a miscalibrated tool can lead to faulty outcomes. It’s essential to maintain a connection with God to navigate life’s challenges effectively.

The Search for Identity

In a world filled with diverse voices, discerning truth becomes challenging. Many people create their own truths based on personal feelings or societal influences. However, these subjective truths lack a solid foundation. True identity and purpose come from understanding who God says we are, not from our own self-perceptions.

Christianity offers a grounded approach, rooted in objective reality and moral certainty. In contrast to the shifting sands of subjective truth, the Christian worldview provides a stable and reliable foundation.

Embracing the Gospel

The gospel is a message of hope and transformation. It calls us to align our lives with God’s truth and share this hope with others. Amidst the chaos of modern ideologies, the gospel remains a beacon of certainty and purpose.

As believers, we are tasked with spreading this message, offering hope and meaning in a world often devoid of both. By embodying the truth of the gospel, we can impact lives and bring about positive change.

The Role of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit empowers us to live out our faith boldly. It provides us with the courage to speak truth and the wisdom to navigate complex situations. Through the Spirit, we gain the strength to overcome personal and external challenges.

By drawing near to God and seeking His guidance, we can fulfill our purpose and make a difference in our communities. The Spirit’s presence in our lives is a transformative force, driving us to live in alignment with God’s will.

Conclusion: A Call to Action

In conclusion, the questions “Says Who?” and “Who Cares What You Think?” challenge us to examine the sources of our beliefs and the truths we hold dear. By anchoring our lives in God’s unchanging word, we find stability and purpose.

Let us commit to living lives that reflect the truth of the gospel, sharing this message with a world in need. Together, we can be agents of change, bringing light to the darkness and hope to the hopeless.

Authentic Relational Church — The Jerusalem Model

Christianity can appear successful by worldly standards—big buildings and large attendance—yet still miss the transforming power Jesus intended. When the church is organized by systems instead of organic, family-shaped relationships, it often fails to reflect heaven on earth. The heart of the problem is structural. A mechanistic church produces mechanical results, while a church rooted in belonging and the gospel brings life, healing, and renewal. The dream is simple: every person experiences love, welcome, and a personal encounter with Jesus. Discover how the early church’s model can inspire a thriving, relational community today.
