God is Not Far From Each of Us

In the journey of life, we often find ourselves seeking meaning, purpose, and connection. The message today dives into the profound truth that God is not far from any of us. Drawing from Acts 17:26-29, we explore the idea that we are all part of one family, created by God, and placed in our unique circumstances for a reason.

The Unity of Humanity

Acts 17:26 tells us that God has made every nation from one blood. This revelation challenges us to recognize our shared humanity. Regardless of our backgrounds, we are all part of the same family. This is a revolutionary thought that should inspire unity and compassion among us.

God has appointed the times and boundaries of our dwellings. Each of us has been placed in our specific location and situation for a purpose. This divine orchestration is not random; it serves a greater plan. We are here to seek the Lord, to find Him, and to experience His presence.

Groping in the Darkness

The imagery of “groping” for God is powerful. It evokes a sense of searching in darkness, much like navigating through an unfamiliar room without light. In our spiritual journey, we often encounter darkness—sin and despair that cloud our vision. However, recognizing this darkness is the first step toward seeking the light.

As we explore this imagery, we need to be aware of the darkness not just in our lives but in the world around us. The temptation is to worship the creation rather than the Creator, leading to a disconnect from our purpose. This is where many people fall short; they fail to see the light and end up lost in darkness.

Awakening to Reality

As disciples of Jesus, we are called to awaken to the reality of the darkness around us. If we do not recognize the problems we face, we will lack the motivation to seek change. Many have become complacent, but now we see a growing awareness of the darkness, and that awareness is a good thing. It stirs a hunger for breakthrough and transformation.

Our society faces numerous challenges that threaten to erode goodness, truth, and beauty. If we remain passive, we risk losing justice and peace for future generations. The time to wake up and act is now—if we truly care for our children and grandchildren, we must engage with the issues at hand.

Confronting Cultural Ideologies

In our discussions, we encounter various ideologies that shape our culture. Terms like relativism and skepticism dominate the landscape, creating a worldview where truth is subjective. This leads to a culture that believes in the idea of personal truth, which ultimately fosters confusion and division.

Materialism, often seen as the pursuit of wealth for its own sake, distorts our understanding of prosperity. Contrary to popular belief, wealth is not a finite resource; it can be created through hard work, integrity, and righteous living. This misunderstanding breeds jealousy and resentment, further darkening our societal landscape.

Overcoming Darkness with Light

Throughout history, we have seen God working in various civilizations, overcoming darkness and lies. Today, we live in a post-Christian culture, where many reject the authority of Scripture. Yet, we must remember that God has always broken through the challenges of His people without reliance on written texts alone.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the darkness, but we must remember that we have been given the tools to combat it. The Word of God is not merely a collection of propositions; it is a living conversation with God. When we engage with Scripture, it transforms our lives and equips us to face the world.

Experiencing God’s Presence

Some believe that people today merely need an encounter with God. However, I challenge that notion. Many have experienced miracles and still turned away from God. Instead, the key lies in recognizing that God is continually at work, speaking to every individual, whether they realize it or not.

Our experiences should lead us to a deeper understanding of God’s sovereignty. When we fully surrender to King Jesus, we begin to ask the right questions: What does it mean to be a disciple? How do we walk in truth? The more we allow His Word to transform our lives, the more we are equipped for good works.

The Beauty of God’s Creation

Returning to the imagery of light and darkness, it’s essential to recognize that God is a God of beauty and diversity. When we live in darkness, we lose sight of the goodness and truth that surround us. But turning on the light, through repentance and seeking God, reveals the beauty in our lives and the world.

Even in the most challenging circumstances, God’s light can shine brightly. We have seen stories of individuals who found freedom and joy in the darkest places. The light of Christ transforms lives, allowing us to see beauty even amidst trials.

Our Call to Action

As we reflect on these truths, we must ask ourselves: Where is the light? In a world filled with darkness, we are called to be the light. It’s not about pointing fingers at the wicked but about shining brightly in our communities. The light destroys darkness, and we have the power to illuminate the truth.

We cannot afford to be passive. The church has the potential to turn the tide against darkness, but it requires boldness and commitment. We must unite in prayer and action, seeking to be led by the Spirit of God. When we do, we can ignite a fire of hope and transformation.

Conclusion: Embracing Our Purpose

In conclusion, God is not far from each of us. He has placed us here for a reason, and we are called to seek Him. As we awaken to the truth of our shared humanity and the darkness around us, let us rise up as a beacon of light. Together, we can overcome the challenges we face and bring hope to a world in need.

Let us pray for courage, wisdom, and the strength to carry the light of Christ into every corner of our lives. Amen.

Authentic Relational Church — The Jerusalem Model

Christianity can appear successful by worldly standards—big buildings and large attendance—yet still miss the transforming power Jesus intended. When the church is organized by systems instead of organic, family-shaped relationships, it often fails to reflect heaven on earth. The heart of the problem is structural. A mechanistic church produces mechanical results, while a church rooted in belonging and the gospel brings life, healing, and renewal. The dream is simple: every person experiences love, welcome, and a personal encounter with Jesus. Discover how the early church’s model can inspire a thriving, relational community today.
