I was really sad this morning I actually um I have not been able to find my Bible my like bible that I’ve had for like 20 years And uh but God really put something in my heart He said he said is it is it that book or is it my words Is it my words that matter

So again Genesis chapter 22 we’re gonna be in verse one and I’ll give you a little bit of an where we’re at in the word here We’re we’re we’re gonna be going through Abraham this morning And Abraham was given a great promise by God He was given an incredible promise that he would have a son

But this promise was strong And then God gave them this beautiful baby boy Isaac and we pick up here after his birth And we see in chapter 22 verse one now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham Now the funny thing is is God made Abraham wait 100 years to have a child You think that would have been enough of a test in his life and the fortitude of who he was

My uncle used to be an aerospace engineer and uh we talked about this that the concept of what they would do and how they would test things And I said doesn’t it hurt when you like watch a rocket go up into space and then it just blows up like all that hard work He’s like yeah years and years of work and he worked on fuel cells So we actually built the actual fuel systems for all these different planes

Now I know the scholars in here are like wait a minute He has two sons He had Ishmael yes but Ishmael was not what God had called him to Ishmael was of the flesh Ishmael was not the promise God had made to Abraham It was a carnal thought process of God’s promises It was not God’s promise is Isaiah

It is the actual first time the word love I went through several different versions and it’s the first time it pops up which is really interesting It’s not about a wife right I I I it’s it’s about the love of a father to a son It’s really interesting The first time God references love is in a father son relationship We’re gonna get back to why That’s super important in a moment He says your son whom you love
