For instance, in Nigeria, where I hail from, the situation has become dire. My heart aches as I think about the leadership that has led to devastation and loss. The current president, in my view, has brought more suffering than any I have known in my 71 years. The violence we witness, especially against Christians, is something I never thought I would see in my lifetime.
Every Sunday, churchgoers in the northern regions of Nigeria face the grim reality that they may not return home safely. The atrocities committed against innocent lives are staggering. I fought in the civil war years ago, but the loss of life in recent times surpasses all that I have experienced. It’s a painful reminder that we must not lose hope, for help will come from heaven. Our mission remains clear: we must not go to heaven alone.

The Power of Faith in Adversity
In the face of adversity, we must hold fast to our faith. There’s a story that exemplifies this. A busload of people was stopped by Boko Haram militants. They were asked to identify themselves as Christians or Muslims. While most fled to the safety of the Muslim side, three brave souls stood firm in their identity as Christians. They declared, “We want to die as Christians.” Their faith was rewarded; they were spared, and their courage was acknowledged. This is a testament to the power of standing firm in our beliefs.
It’s crucial for our youth to recognize the weight of their responsibility. We are living in a pivotal time. This generation has the potential to change the world, but they must understand the importance of their mission. The youth today are the greatest generation, equipped with tools and technology that can spread the message of Christ far and wide. However, if they fail to act, they will bear the weight of that decision.

The Great Commission: Our Mandate
As Christians, we have a divine mandate to spread the gospel. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commands us to go forth and make disciples of all nations. This is not just a suggestion; it’s a command filled with power. Jesus has given us authority, and with that authority comes responsibility. We must not shy away from sharing the good news, even when it’s uncomfortable.
In Mark 16:15, we are reminded, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” This is our calling. The world is waiting to hear the message of hope and salvation. We must not let fear silence our voices. If we are embarrassed to share the gospel, we risk embarrassing heaven.

America, a nation once known for its Christian values, is facing a crisis of faith. The roots of our nation are intertwined with the gospel. Our forefathers worked tirelessly, sending missionaries around the globe. Now, it’s our turn to continue that legacy. We must not let the seeds of faith wither away.

Evangelism in Our Daily Lives
Evangelism doesn’t have to be a daunting task. It can be as simple as sharing a conversation with someone. The power of the gospel is not diminished by our circumstances. He armed his trained servants and pursued the enemy. This is a powerful metaphor for our call to evangelism. We are to pursue those who are lost and bring them back to the fold.
In our daily lives, how often do we hear of someone who is lost? Do we feel a sense of urgency to reach out? We must invest in the kingdom of God and actively seek those who are in darkness. A wise man wins souls, and we must strive to be those wise men and women.

Our churches should be filled with people who are passionate about winning souls. Let’s not allow the benches to remain empty. Instead, let’s fill them with lives transformed by the gospel.
