Can You Give God One Soul?

In our journey of faith, there’s a profound question that resonates deeply within our hearts: “Can you give God one soul?” This question is not just a mere inquiry; it’s a call to action that challenges us to reflect on our purpose and the impact we can have on the lives of others. In a world filled with chaos and uncertainty, the message of salvation must shine brightly, and we are tasked with spreading that light. Let’s dive deeper into this vital topic and explore what it means to give God one soul.

The State of the Nation and Its Impact on Faith

As we look around the world today, it’s easy to feel disheartened. Many of us may ponder whether we would want to return to a place that feels so lost. For instance, in Nigeria, where I hail from, the situation has become dire. My heart aches as I think about the leadership that has led to devastation and loss. The current president, in my view, has brought more suffering than any I have known in my 71 years. The violence we witness, especially against Christians, is something I never thought I would see in my lifetime.

Every Sunday, churchgoers in the northern regions of Nigeria face the grim reality that they may not return home safely. The atrocities committed against innocent lives are staggering. I fought in the civil war years ago, but the loss of life in recent times surpasses all that I have experienced. It’s a painful reminder that we must not lose hope, for help will come from heaven. Our mission remains clear: we must not go to heaven alone.

The Power of Faith in Adversity

In the face of adversity, we must hold fast to our faith. There’s a story that exemplifies this. A busload of people was stopped by Boko Haram militants. They were asked to identify themselves as Christians or Muslims. While most fled to the safety of the Muslim side, three brave souls stood firm in their identity as Christians. They declared, “We want to die as Christians.” Their faith was rewarded; they were spared, and their courage was acknowledged. This is a testament to the power of standing firm in our beliefs.

It’s crucial for our youth to recognize the weight of their responsibility. We are living in a pivotal time. This generation has the potential to change the world, but they must understand the importance of their mission. The youth today are the greatest generation, equipped with tools and technology that can spread the message of Christ far and wide. However, if they fail to act, they will bear the weight of that decision.

The Great Commission: Our Mandate

As Christians, we have a divine mandate to spread the gospel. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commands us to go forth and make disciples of all nations. This is not just a suggestion; it’s a command filled with power. Jesus has given us authority, and with that authority comes responsibility. We must not shy away from sharing the good news, even when it’s uncomfortable.

In Mark 16:15, we are reminded, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” This is our calling. The world is waiting to hear the message of hope and salvation. We must not let fear silence our voices. If we are embarrassed to share the gospel, we risk embarrassing heaven.

The Importance of Souls

How much do we value souls? Every soul is precious in the eyes of God. The joy in heaven over one soul that repents is immeasurable. We must ask ourselves, how many souls are we bringing to Christ? The writer of a beautiful hymn once asked, “Must I go, and empty-handed? Must I meet my Savior so?” This question should stir our hearts and compel us to action.

America, a nation once known for its Christian values, is facing a crisis of faith. The roots of our nation are intertwined with the gospel. Our forefathers worked tirelessly, sending missionaries around the globe. Now, it’s our turn to continue that legacy. We must not let the seeds of faith wither away.

Evangelism in Our Daily Lives

Evangelism doesn’t have to be a daunting task. It can be as simple as sharing a conversation with someone. The power of the gospel is not diminished by our circumstances. For example, during a recent flight, I had the opportunity to share the love of Christ with a fellow passenger. This simple act led to a life-changing moment for that individual. It reminded me that wherever we are, we can be vessels for God’s message.

We must not underestimate the influence we can have on those around us. Every interaction is an opportunity to share the gospel. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or even a stranger, we have the chance to plant seeds of faith. Remember, the Holy Spirit is our helper, guiding us in these moments.

The Call to Pursue Souls

Let’s take a moment to reflect on the story of Abraham in Genesis 14:14. When Abraham learned that his brother had been taken captive, he didn’t sit idly by. He armed his trained servants and pursued the enemy. This is a powerful metaphor for our call to evangelism. We are to pursue those who are lost and bring them back to the fold.

In our daily lives, how often do we hear of someone who is lost? Do we feel a sense of urgency to reach out? We must invest in the kingdom of God and actively seek those who are in darkness. A wise man wins souls, and we must strive to be those wise men and women.

Restoring Our Commitment to Evangelism

As we move forward, let’s renew our commitment to evangelism. The work of the Holy Spirit is not just for personal edification; it’s for the mission of spreading the gospel. The Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses for Christ. In Acts 1:8, we are reminded that we will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, and we will be His witnesses.

It’s time for every believer to rise up and take action. We cannot remain silent any longer. The world needs to hear about the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Our churches should be filled with people who are passionate about winning souls. Let’s not allow the benches to remain empty. Instead, let’s fill them with lives transformed by the gospel.

Conclusion: A Call to Action

As we conclude, I urge you to consider the question: “Can you give God one soul?” Reflect on what that means for you personally. Let’s not be satisfied with mere attendance in church; let’s be active participants in God’s mission. Every soul matters, and we have the incredible privilege of sharing the good news with those around us.

Let’s pray for courage, wisdom, and opportunities to evangelize. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many. Remember, the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Will you answer the call?

When the church aligns with God’s design, it becomes a place of healing, transformation, belonging, and encounter with the living Christ. Discover how to cultivate this authentic community.

Authentic Relational Church — The Jerusalem Model

Christianity can appear successful by worldly standards—big buildings and large attendance—yet still miss the transforming power Jesus intended. When the church is organized by systems instead of organic, family-shaped relationships, it often fails to reflect heaven on earth. The heart of the problem is structural. A mechanistic church produces mechanical results, while a church rooted in belonging and the gospel brings life, healing, and renewal. The dream is simple: every person experiences love, welcome, and a personal encounter with Jesus. Discover how the early church’s model can inspire a thriving, relational community today.
