Out of His Mouth: A Revelation of Jesus

In the journey of faith, encountering Jesus is not just an event; it’s a daily experience that transforms lives. The title of today’s message, “Out of His Mouth,” invites us to explore the profound revelations of Jesus and how they shape our daily walk as Christians.

A Daily Revelation

Let’s start with the importance of having a vision of Jesus. An encounter with the Lord is the most satisfying and life-changing event we can experience. Each day, when we pray, “God our Father, give us today our daily bread,” we are acknowledging that Jesus is that daily bread. When we approach Him with a hunger for His presence, we will find Him faithful to meet us.

However, it’s crucial to understand that the depth of our hunger influences the level of revelation we receive. If we come to prayer or church without a desire to experience His presence, we may miss out on the profound encounters meant for us. Just as two people can experience the same situation differently, our spiritual hunger determines how deeply we can know Him.

The Apostle John’s Encounter

To illustrate this, let’s look at the revelation the Apostle John received on the Isle of Patmos. John was imprisoned for his faith, yet his heart was burdened for the people of God. He longed for them to receive a word from the Lord amidst their persecution and trials.

In that context of hunger and desperation, John hears a voice saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega.” This powerful introduction leads him to a vision that changes everything. In Revelation 1:12-16, we see a glorious depiction of Jesus that John encounters:

“Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me, and having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like the Son of Man…”

This revelation of Jesus is not just beautiful; it is transformative. When we truly see Him for who He is, all the trials and tribulations of life take on a different perspective. We realize that He is King, and with one word out of His mouth, He can alter any situation.

The Power of His Word

One key image from John’s encounter is the sharp two-edged sword that comes out of Jesus’ mouth. This imagery speaks to the power of God’s Word. The sword represents the Word of God that goes forth into the earth, overcoming all things.

Isaiah 11:4 tells us, “But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth.” This verse emphasizes the significance of the Word of God in bringing justice and righteousness to the world.

Understanding the Battle

As we reflect on the power of His Word, we must recognize that we are stewards of this revelation. The mission of the church is to proclaim the kingdom of God, engaging in the battle between good and evil. It’s essential to understand that this battle is not merely cosmic but is also played out in our everyday lives and societies.

In Acts 17:26-27, we read that God has made every nation and predetermined their boundaries so that people might seek Him. This shows that God’s heart is for the nations. The gospel is meant to spread across every culture, bringing blessing and transformation.

The Impact of Ideas

The power of ideas cannot be overstated. The fall of man was initiated by a bad idea, yet the gospel is the good idea that brings redemption. The church must engage with the cultural narratives of our time, presenting the truth of the gospel in a way that resonates with people’s hearts.

This is where the importance of literature and storytelling comes into play. Great literature, inspired by biblical truths, has the power to shape minds and hearts. When the gospel is woven into the fabric of our culture, it can bring about revolutionary change.

Historical Perspectives

Looking back at history, we see how the church has been a catalyst for change. The American Revolution was not just a political movement; it was deeply influenced by the biblical values instilled by the church. The Puritans understood that when leaders are out of order, there is a moral responsibility to bring them back into alignment with God’s Word.

Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson recognized the significance of biblical ideas in shaping the nation. Franklin’s design for the National Seal reflected a deep understanding of God’s justice and the fight against tyranny. This historical context underscores the importance of the church’s voice in society today.

Living Out the Revelation

As we wrap up, it’s vital to remember that our daily revelation of Jesus should compel us to action. We are called to live out the truth of the gospel in every aspect of our lives. Whether it’s in our workplaces, communities, or social media, we must reflect the character of Christ.

God has given each of us unique gifts and talents to serve in His kingdom. It’s not just about preaching or teaching; it’s about embodying the love of Christ in our actions. As we gather as a community, we are strengthened and equipped to share the light of Jesus with the world.

Conclusion: A Call to Action

Let us pray for a greater revelation of Jesus in our lives. May we be filled with His Word, allowing it to flow through us as we engage with the world. Our mission is to make the way of the Messiah known, proclaiming His truth and love to a world in desperate need.

As we go forth, let’s remember that we are part of a grand narrative, one that transcends time and culture. Together, we can build bridges with those around us, inviting them into the transformative power of the gospel.

May we live daily in the light of His revelation, empowered to bring forth His kingdom here on earth.

Authentic Relational Church — The Jerusalem Model

Christianity can appear successful by worldly standards—big buildings and large attendance—yet still miss the transforming power Jesus intended. When the church is organized by systems instead of organic, family-shaped relationships, it often fails to reflect heaven on earth. The heart of the problem is structural. A mechanistic church produces mechanical results, while a church rooted in belonging and the gospel brings life, healing, and renewal. The dream is simple: every person experiences love, welcome, and a personal encounter with Jesus. Discover how the early church’s model can inspire a thriving, relational community today.
