Remembering Christmas: A Call to Action and Reflection

The Christmas season serves as a powerful reminder of the advent of Christ, inviting us to reflect on its significance and implications for our lives today. This blog explores the importance of entering into the Christmas experience, recognizing our current challenges, and embracing the hope that Jesus brings. Let’s delve into the key themes of this message and discover how we can actively participate in the revival of our hearts and communities.

The Reality of Our Time

As we approach Christmas, it’s crucial to acknowledge the state of our nation and the world. Recently, Beth Moore pointed out a troubling trend within the Christian community, suggesting that some believers may be idolizing political figures like Donald Trump. However, the core issue at hand is not about political idols; it’s about recognizing the deeper sin problem and rebellion that plagues our society.

We are witnessing forces that threaten to undermine our values and way of life, and while figures like Trump may provide temporary reprieve, they are not our saviors. Only Jesus can heal our nation, which is akin to a patient suffering from stage four cancer. We need a miracle, and that miracle is the hope found in Christ.

The Importance of Prayer and Intercession

In these times, we must understand the power of prayer and intercession. Life in the metaphorical “swamp” of our culture can lead to desensitization, dulling our hearts to the need for divine encounters with Jesus. As believers, our role is to intercede for those trapped in this swamp, helping them recognize their suffering and guiding them towards the only source of true hope—Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:14-15 emphasizes this mission: how can people call on Him they have not believed in? How can they believe without hearing? It is our responsibility as the church to spread the gospel and bring the message of peace to those in despair.

The Call to Remember

As we reflect on the Christmas season, we are reminded of God’s promise to be with us and to shake the foundations of our lives when necessary. In Ezra 3, we see the Israelites responding to the rebuilding of the temple. The younger generations rejoiced, while the elders wept for the past glories that seemed lost. This dual response resonates with us today; we can celebrate the hope of Christ while mourning the state of our world.

Haggai’s prophecy serves as a powerful reminder that God’s spirit remains with us, urging us not to fear but to be strong and continue the work He has called us to. The glory of the latter temple will surpass the former, as Jesus—the desire of all nations—comes to fulfill God’s promises.

Engaging with Our Culture

We must engage with our culture, seeking the peace of our cities, as instructed in Jeremiah 29:7. Our prayers for leaders and authorities are vital; they influence the well-being of our communities. By praying for those in power, we contribute to the peace and stability of our society, fostering an environment where the gospel can flourish.

First Timothy 2:1-4 emphasizes the need for prayer for kings and all in authority. Our prayers can lead to a quiet and peaceful life, allowing us to live out our faith freely and effectively. We must shift from cursing our leaders to praying for them, recognizing that they are not our enemies but potential vessels for God’s purpose.

A Fresh Baptism of the Holy Spirit

As we seek to drain the swamp and revive our communities, we need a fresh baptism of the Holy Spirit. This empowerment allows us to engage in genuine discipleship and transformation, leading others to Christ. The Holy Spirit ignites our hearts with passion and purpose, compelling us to share the love of God with those around us.

John the Baptist’s call for repentance is as relevant today as it was then. He urged people to bear fruits worthy of repentance, highlighting the need for practical actions that reflect our faith. We must not only proclaim the gospel but also live it out in our daily lives, demonstrating God’s love through our actions.

Sharing the Stories of Faith

One of the most powerful tools we have in our faith journey is the sharing of testimonies. When we recount the stories of God’s faithfulness in our lives and in the lives of others, we breathe life into our faith and inspire hope in those around us. These stories serve as reminders of what God has done and what He can do again.

In the book “Giants Will Fall,” the author shares a dream where intercessors find a pulse in lifeless bodies by recounting the stories of God’s past actions. This illustrates the importance of remembering and sharing our testimonies to revive hope and faith in our communities.

Embracing Our Identity in Christ

As we remember Christmas, we must embrace our identity as full-time ministers of the gospel. There is no retirement from serving Christ; our mission continues until He returns. We must remain kingdom-minded, engaging with the world around us while maintaining a posture of humility.

Strength in humility allows us to work together as the body of Christ, empowering one another to fulfill our God-given purposes. We must remember that our ultimate goal is to lead others to the love of God, helping them move from darkness to light.

Conclusion: A Call to Action

This Christmas, let us remember the advent of Christ and the hope it brings. We are called to actively participate in this season by engaging in prayer, sharing our stories, and living out our faith. Let us seek a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit, empowering us to make a difference in our communities.

As we celebrate Christmas, let us pray for a revival in our hearts and in our nation. May we be the vessels through which God’s love flows, bringing hope and healing to a world in need. Merry Christmas to all, and may we remember the true meaning of this season as we seek to embody the love of Christ in every aspect of our lives.
